When I was giving background NPCs the spotlight with these pinups a couple of months back, I did consider including Janine. Or "Dog Woman" as she existed at the time. I attempted a composition involving her dog's shadow stretching across the floor, implying his presence in the doorway. At the time, this proved too ambitious for my skill level, and she got skipped.
But now that Janine has been bumped up from "prop" to "side character" I decided to roll up my sleeves and try that composition again. It was still too hard. But I think I managed to convey what I wanted here.
This one takes place shortly after Amber and Kal reconnected, and she was helping him get back into the dating pool by introducing him to some of her friends. Kal and Janine went out for drinks and it went well enough to take things back to her place. Kal found she was strangely adamant that they do it on her couch, and her bedroom door was shut. Not shut as tightly as it could have been, it would turn out. While Kal and Janine were having sex, the door flung open and a spirited little dog jumped up on to the coffee table.
Kal had heard people break their bones and not scream like Janine did. Just a bloody murder scream of pure horror. He spent the rest of the evening trying to find a reliable dog psychiatrist online with Janine.
They wouldn't work out in the end, as Janine couldn't see herself settling down with a non-dog owner. But the two of them remain friends.
