This post is for people who never used a chatbot before or would like to know more about Spicychat's features. This is just a general guideline to help you improve your experience.
Setting up your scene
It usually doesn't really matter that much, what the chatbot says in the greeting. While you can just play into it, I usually prefer to set up the scene myself (that's why my chatbots all have a kind of boring greeting).
It can be everything, from deciding on the chatbots attire, to their size or environment they're in.
Getting a desireable response
This can be a very tricky thing and you always got to keep in mind, that the A.I. might produce nonsense or drifts away from the topic. However you have tools to work against that.
First and foremost, you can just regenerate a message, meaning you basically ask the A.I. for a new response to your message.
If that fails or maybe the A.I. gets some details wrong, there's always the option to edit the messages. This can be especially helpful to shape the responses of the A.I. for future use.
This also applies to your own previous message. You can go back and change anything about it and then regenerate the A.I.'s response, which will then respond to your edited message.
The command feature
I'm not sure if other chatbot sites have something similar but I've first encountered it on Spicychat and it's a very powerful tool. With this feature, you can basically tell the chatbot what to do, feel or think in a definitive way. You can use it by writing /cmd in your response, followed by the message, usually adressing the chatbot in third person. I'd highly recommend playing with that feature.
Also, in case you didn't know, pressing Shift+Enter lets you do a soft return, to start a new paragraph without sending the message.
Rating a message
While optional, rating a chatbot's message helps improving it for the future. It can make quite the difference. First, hover over how many stars you want to give to the message and then pick a fitting keyword and that's it. Keep in mind, that you can also edit a message and give it a rating afterwards.
Continued messages and generated replies
If you feel like a chatbot has something good going and you just want them to keep going, you can just click the "continue message" button and the bot will just keep adding to its response.
Also if you don't feel like typing yourself, you can have Spicychat generate a response for you. You will be able to edit it, before it gets send. This might also reference your persona, if you're using one.
Personas
While totally optional, you can create a persona for the character you're playing as. It basically consists of a name and a short description but this helps the chatbot to properly respond to your gender, species and so on, without you having to explain it every time.
Also keep in mind, a persona doesn't have to be a person. You can just as well role-play as an entire city for a giant to have fun in, for example.
