Tae couldn't speak Yunjae's language. He didn't understood him.
Still, he listened.
He watched Yunjae every day, listening carefully whenever he tried to communicate with him, or simply when he spoke to himself without realizing anyone was paying attention. Tae observed everything.
The way Yunjae moved, the things he did, the words he used.
During the weeks they had spent together, Tae had already learned a handful of words. He was beginning to understand simple sentences too, some because Yunjae patiently explained them, others because he had learned to guess their meaning from context. One of Tae's favorite things was surprising Yunjae with a new word he had picked up. Every time he did, Yunjae's face would light up with a wide and proud smile
...and somehow that smile made all the effort worth while.
There was one particular word Tae had heard countless times. Yunjae often murmured it under his breath while gazing at the stars scattered across the night sky while watching the sunrise paint the horizon in gold, or while admiring flowers swaying gently in the wind.
Tae didn't fully understand it's meaning yet, but he was certain it had to be something important. Something precious.
Perhaps as precious as Yunjae himself had become to Tae.
