So, I had spent my Christmas holidays working on writing this current arc of Being Fiona, only to discover at the end of it, that the direction Hugo, Jess, and Fiona's conversation took wasn't working.
So here are a few strips that show the dialogue that was before I scrapped it and started over.
I had added Hugo to this morning's activities so that Fiona could have a physical person to talk to while Felix and Jess prepared for their meeting at lunch with Lisa.
Hugo was supposed to ask Fiona various questions to help Felix develop Fiona's backstory, except, as soon as Felix mentioned that he likes video-games, Hugo's inner geek took over and completely side-tracked the conversation into talking about how great Augmented Reality is.
Which at the time, was fine, since it could segue into Felix using AR to make himself see Fiona's face when looking in a mirror while he borrowing Jess' body. Which was an idea I was toying with later on in the story when the borrowing sessions become more long term. Except, as Hugo explains in these strips, that's probably a terrible idea.
So, then I ended up with a series of panels of Hugo talking about how great AR is and introduce a game he plays using it, only to immediately drop the topic right after that. Then we would have to wait for a whole bunch of other things to happen in the story until the plot reaches the spring or summer, a dozen story arcs from now, when Hugo invites Fiona to join him for a weekend to play an AR game with a bunch of Hugo's wealthy friends.
So as fun as it was to jump Fiona through a few different costumes, the conversation didn't feel worth it.
A few other notes:
At one point I had decided that Felix was born in the midwest, but then I couldn't remember why I wanted to do that, so to keep things simple, I'm going to change it to Felix being born in same the town he grew up outside of Seattle.
Not sure if Felix needs to have siblings, I don't have any plans or use for them in the story at this point.
I'm going to keep the idea that Fiona is simply Jess' doppelganger, except since Fiona told Lisa that she is taking Neuro Engineering, Jess wouldn't have met Fiona randomly at a party, Fiona would be Jess' classmate.
