Heart Guardians Part 24 - Panels 57-77

When I first wrote chapter 5 of Idealized, when Dave sees Rob as Robin for the first time, he originally said something along the lines of, "Cassie? What are you doing here? Did you spend the night with Evan? What about Scott and the kids?"

But in the time between first writing that chapter and releasing it, I think I had started some initial development of Heart Guardians, including Cassie's character design. And given that she is noticeably curvier and shorter than Robin, I figured that it would have been harder for Dave to mistake Robin for Cassie. But since I wanted to keep that dialogue, I decided to change things so that Dave had never seen Cassie before, and in doing so, the dialogue about Scott and the kids got left out.

Then when it came time in Heart Guardians for Evan and Robin to visit Scott and Cassie, I left the kids out partly out of forgetfulness and partly because having less characters in that scene was easier.

Then as I developed Scott and Cassie's story further, I realized that I should have left some hint that they had kids, but had forgotten to do that when I was writing and rendering chapter 3.

I considered the idea that maybe the kids were with Cassie and Robin's parents for the night, but that felt like it would come out of nowhere, so I settled on the idea that Cassie and Scott were going to reveal that Scott was pregnant over dinner and since they now knew that Robin knew about magic, they were going to ask for Robin's help with it.

But with chapter 16, the part of the story where that would have been revealed, already being 308 panels, I didn't have room for it, and it also disrupted the flow of that chapter. So I left it out.

So while this is kind of tacked on at the end of the story, it also this feels like a better spot for the reveal.

I have some minor plans for Scarlett Jr.. she might show up at the age of 18 or 19 in a brief flash-forward, but that could be a while down the road.
