N-SPEC COMP LITE 2 is a highly efficient spectral upward/downward compressor with spectrum smoothing and a fast workflow.
N-SPEC COMP LITE individually compresses 512 frequency bands, giving you extreme control over shaping the frequency response and dynamics of any sound.
From light spectral shaping, ott-like multiband compression and doom-compressor style spectrum flattening, this plugdata patch allows you to go all in when it comes to shaping your sounds and getting the absolute most out of your sounds.
The MAIN COMPRESSION dial adjusts the UPWARD and DOWNWARD compression ratio at the same time.
You can adjust the UPWARD and DOWNWARD compression ratios INDIVIDUALLY. The Spectrum analyzer visually reacts to the amount of up & down ratios.
If you decide to use the upwards and downwards ratios at different amounts, the main compression dial will be reset to not interfere with the individual ratios.
Attack and Release control the attack and release for all 512 band compressors. 0% effectively turns N-SPEC COMP LITE into a spectral clipper and turning up just the release turns it into a spectral limiter.
N-SPEC COMP LITE includes an essential spectrum smoothing algorithm that averages the compression curve in order to more effectively compress the spectrum and reduce the overly surgical results spectral compression is known for.
High smoothing % will often resemble well configured multiband compression, without the hassle of having to set it up yourself.
N-SPEC COMP LITE simplifies the spectrum threshold by having 3 different target curves.
The TARGET CURVE will be visible when adjusting any controls.
You can TOGGLE the TARGET CURVE visibility by SHIFT CLICKING the CURVE ICON.
You can select between the 3 curves by clicking on the currently used curve.
Curve 1: Flat target curve. Best to be used with tilt for optimal frequency responses.
Curve 2: Sloped target curve. Best for smooth or natural material.
Curve 3: OTT style target curve. For those seeking the tone of ott multiband compression.
TARGET controls the target volume for frequencies. This is equivalent to a threshold.
TILT tilts the target curve across the spectrum. This is a db/oct tilt.
Makeup adjusts the output gain of the dry signal with a range from -6dB to 18dB. This is useful if you want to downward compress then compensate the gain.
MIX adjusts the overall mix, which is also reflected in the spectrum analyzer glow effect.
NOTE: Make sure to disable the Plugdata-fx SAFETY LIMITER, as that will limit your output to below 0dB!
