DESCRIPTION

[ENG]
I met Lau in the only photo course I've taught, focused on Ineffable. I was thrilled she was a woman and curious to find something to complement the portraits she already made of other women, with birth photography being her main focus. So, we took advantage of her being in the city to do this beautiful session in my space, which, although small, I think we resolved quite well.

[ESP]

TESTIMONIALS

1- Why did you want to do a shooting with Innefable?

I am always on the other side of the camera. I find it intimidating to imagine myself as the main character. One day I realized I don’t really have photos of myself, and that in this daily speech that I preach about the importance of self-knowledge, there are lots of words but almost no images. I decided to collaborate with Innefable to face the fear of seeing myself through someone else’s eyes, to recognize myself through this other gaze, and give me a chance to have a memory of who I was when I was 35 years old, one of the most complex and complete stages of my life, emotionally speaking.

2- Last year I went to a Women’s circle for the first time. Each week we would share words and create together. On the second encounter, we talked about body image. We meditated, and talked about society and the feminine body, about political and collective matters. And then we took our clothes off and danced. Each of us talked in front of everyone about her experience and her relationship with her body. We were around 10 women from different nationalities, ages, and lifestyles. Undressing in body and vulnerability in front of strangers was an intense experience, and listening to each one of them, was deeply emotional. We all had different experiences but we could empathize with each of them and feel like hugging them and letting them know they were not alone.

That was the first time I experienced the concept of sorority firsthand and became intimately linked to a new family

3- For several years, I worked at a government office and had a comfortable life, a good schedule, and income as well as a month of paid vacations. Every year, I would use that month to go backpacking somewhere around South America and get rid of the need to roam free around the world. As soon as I was back, I would start planning my next trip. In eight years I lived eight intense trips and lots of routine office days. My last trip of this kind was to Mexico. I fell in love with the culture, food, landscapes, and a person. When I went back to Argentina, my boss asked me to talk with her privately. With teenage ayes, she told that she didn’t see me behind a computer for the rest of my days. She told me she had been in my place before but she had chosen to stay. The next day she helped me organize my finances and gave me a 6-month-license to go back to Mexico and create my future. And here I am still, seven years later. I survived the unknown and I am very happy.

4- Talking about lucid dreaming, I was once invited to talk and expand a value that could be maintained throughout life. The word “love” crossed my mind. I started imagining how it flowed through me in the shape of hugs. I questioned myself why we were not capable of loving strangers with the same love we hug our grandmother. I imagined I saw the word from space and that every hug united people with a shiny string. Like that, it was little by little becoming illuminated. It was a utopia where people would never hurt other people and everyone would be united by love. Then, you had to imagine yourself in the future connected through this same value. I saw myself as a very old woman by myself in a fairytale shack. My people were not there anymore and I felt sad about that, but after seeing myself in peace and with a smile on my wrinkled face, I realized I didn’t feel lonely because my heart was full of love.

5- I like to think that my grandma and I are the same people born in a different generations. We have an honest, pure, and open relationship that lets us talk about anything. She is 94 years old, self-sufficient, reads a lot, and every once in a while she does yoga. Because we live 6427km apart from each other, we gossip for hours by phone once a week. In one of our last conversations we talked about freedom, and it was moving listening to her enthusiasm for living through me experiences that were impossible for her to achieve in her youth. We have similar personalities and beliefs, but looking so alike to her on the outside in the Innefable photos, was revealing. Thinking that I have so much in common with one of the people I admire the most really vanished a lot of my insecurities. It gave my freckles, wrinkles, and gestures a new meaning because they resignify the fact that she, somehow, will always be by my side.

6- I am a circus. Nomad and traveler, colorful, filled with magic and sad clowns. New spectators' adrenaline is surrounding me, and I give acrobatics away to anyone who likes the trapeze. I am an ambivalent circus; a spark of hope and colorful beads, and a silent refuge during lonely mornings. My circus cries and laughs without distinction. It grows on every journey and it nourishes from passenger smiles. It’s open all year long and is paid with hugs and empathy. It is honest. It doesn’t have lots of shows or big space tricks, but it will still offer juggling with oranges while there are still little kids eating cotton candy in the stands.

TESTIMONIOS
