Oh, hey, here's a pretty basic feature that was missing. The possibility of being able to put wallpapers in the chat to make it look aesthetically better and more personalized.
(I choose the word wallpaper because the word background can refer to a character's past story)
This feature was designed last year, and I don't know why it has taken so long. But here it is, and super optimized. And I say super because when you try to upload an image, the process of shrinking the image will take time until it reduce its size as much as possible.
Set up Wallpaper mode
To enable it, go to your profile page and look for the Chat Wallpaper option. You can also choose a wallpaper by clicking on the box to select one that will appear in all chats by default if they do not have a preset one.
Once the mode has been enabled, you will now see an icon next to the favorites icon. This button will allow you to choose the wallpaper of the chat you are in, so you can quickly choose and change the wallpaper of your choice without leaving the conversation.
The selection window is quite simple and easy to use. A button to close the window, a button to upload an image, and a button to change the view of the list of wallpapers to choose from. And in the list, one at the top called Default, which allows you to unset it in the current chat.
Upload can take a lot of time. So, since the uploading and processing can take several time, it is okay to close the dialog to continue your chat meanwhile, just don't close or refresh the page.
How to delete wallpapers
In the optional list view, it only serves to display the delete button. That's all.
Dark and light modes
Here is a rough view of how it would look in dark mode. The text is white, but if you use a white wallpaper you can still read the text because it has a shading that is dark enough to highlight the text outside the chat.
And here in light mode. The search button, I have to change it. But you can see shading in the letters to differentiate the black letters from dark wallpapers. This is imperceptible on light wallpapers and looks good.
Bots and scenarios
In addition to setting one per chat, you can set a wallpaper for the character if you are the owner. And it is necessary to clarify how it works.
The main wallpaper is set in the first initial message, the icon next to the privacy icon. This wallpaper is the one that will also be applied to other initial messages.
But, you can set in the other messages a different one.
You can even leave the first initial message without a wallpaper and set in another initial messages one.
You can set one per message. (Do not abuse)
Whats next?
Probably some small tweaks to the wallpapers, but I think it works fine, I've tested it for a long time now. And I've had the idea to implement something similar to importing bots, but with those image sites like Danbooru. That way you would reuse those images and you wouldn't have to download the image to upload it here, with the link would be enough to implement it quickly. Just with the sharing link. maybe pixiv, deviantart too. well, you get the idea.
oh yes, the following is... minute of silence yeah, I guess the voices thing. but if you think something should be added as soon as possible, no matter how small, feel free to comment.
