Take a moment to run through basic priorities in life. Zoom out. Make your list with goals and sub goals. Number items by overall life importance. In another column number it by urgency.
Anything in the top 25% should see daily attention- even if time allocated to it is limited to a few minutes.
Make another list of stressors and unpleasant time-sucks. The top 25% should see daily attention for making those tasks more efficient and less uncomfortable .
For employment based stressors- evaluate how much of your effort is actually beneficial- how much is noticed and how much is rewarded. Most people are doing MUCH work that is of little or no value. Spend much attention to eliminate that shit.
Be less perfect in low importance tasks. Spend less time to complete less meaningful tasks. I’ve seen that most people could reduce their overall effort by a third or more without anyone noticing a change in quality of output. Spend that time on making yourself better.
Ease off time and effort invested in low importance tasks until someone lets you know they notice. When you reach that point, dial up the effort JUST ENOUGH to satisfy needs of those who spoke up. Anything else is WASTE.
When you do this correctly, you’ll be surprised with how much more time and energy you have to invest in things that matter most to you.
