It is December 24th, Genesis has been walking the whole day trying to find what to gift to his best friend for Christmas, there was nothing she felt he would like. He is a pretty modest person and doesn’t look like he’s in need of something.
-Ugh! I’m screwed, I should have started thinking on a gift for him two weeks ago, now is too late and I’m not sure what he could like and he surely has something really beautiful for me already!
Genesis bit her tongue. She was totally out of ideas so she sat on a bench for a moment to get some rest.
-My feet hurt from walking too much.
She looked at her feet while thinking if there was something she could give him and that he would really love, until it clicked when she wiggled her toes with black polish while dangling her flip flops.
-THAT’S IT!
The girl got up and ran to a small store into the mall, a place know for doing body modifications for an affordable price, she entered to the store at 7:45 PM, only fifteen minutes before it closed, she walked to the clerk who was already tidying up the place.
-Hello and welcome to NBMLabs, how may I help you?
-H-hello I need to do a simple modification.
-You’re just in time, I was about to turn off the machine, so what kind of modification would you like?
-Well… I need the detaching feet package please.
-Oh! That’s the package most people buy these days. I need to you to fill this form while you get ready on the chair.
-O-okay.
Genesis received the form and followed the clerk to the chair behind the desk, the guy told her to take a sit and to extend her legs on top of the footrest, after that the guy put a small curtain over the girl’s legs and started working on her ankles, the curtain covered the light that was coming from the installation of the ankle device, she felt a few needless on her ankles but they didn’t hurt, they only touched certain parts for a few seconds. After five minutes Genesis has already filled the form and the clerk was just finishing the process.
-Okay it’s all done, here are your feet.
-W-what!? When did you detach them? I didn’t felt a thing.
The guy was holding her feet like if it was a pair of new shoes, she saw her own detached feet on the palms of an unknown man, the scene felt strange, like if they didn’t belonged to her, but a few toe wiggles reassured her that those where actually her feet. After a few seconds she got a hold of her own detached feet, still wearing her black flip flops, she took her time examining the bodiless pair of feet for a moment and even took the right foot’s flip flop, she looked at her own sole and ran a finger from her heel to the toes which caused her to flinch and laugh. When she recovered her composure she looked at the man who was smiling the whole time, he’s always happy to see the people’s reactions after having their bodies modified.
-Hmmm… h-how is it that I’m able to tickle myself?
-Well that’s because that feet is detached from your body right now, that foot is its own entity for the time being and the device in your leg and ankle is the antenna that emits and receives signals, so whenever you touch the feet you can feel it and that’s why you can move it too, your brain is telling the feet what to do but being a separate being the device can’t tell it’s your own finger touching the sole, so it thinks it’s another person touching it, you could call it a paradox, but it’s mostly the device’s fault, it still needs to be perfected.
-I-I kinda get it now.
-So would you like me to attach them back again?
-N-no, I’m giving these to someone special to me, I hope is not a weird request, but could you put them on a gift box?
-Hmmm yeah that’s not weird at all, that’s and usual request I’ve been getting lately, you know there’s a lot of people that is into feet, so this way is easier to admire them and enjoy them hehe!
The clerk went to another room with the detached feet and came back after twenty minutes with a package containing the girl’s feet.
-Here is your gift and here is a pair of prosthetic feet for you, so you can walk like if you still had your feet, they even come with a pair of shoes so people can’t see you’re wearing prosthetics.
-T-thank you so much, how much will it be?
-Usually is fifty dollars but it’s a special occasion, so it will be only twenty dollars. Let’s say is a special discount.
The guy smiled at her and gave her the package, she started to think that maybe the clerk was into feet too, but it was only a hunch because she thought she felt something weird while her feet were in the other room. She shrugged it off and got up after attaching the prosthetic feet then paid for the process and thanked the man for the discount before leaving.
Genesis was happy that she finally got the perfect gift for her best friend. She slowly walked to the bus stop while getting used to the fake pair of feet and felt her own feet inside the box. They seemed to be covered in some kind of cloth to avoid hurting them while in the package.
She got on the bus and took a seat in the middle row, she then took a piece of paper and started writing on it, when she was finished she signed the card and got it inside the package, when she arrived to her best friend’s house, she knocked on the door and waited for her friend to open.
-Hey b-buddy! I got you your present, I hope you really enjoy them… i-I mean… ‘’it’’… it took me a lot of time to think on the perfect present for you, so here it is.
Her best friend took a hold of the package and then gave her a hug and her present too.
-I honestly can’t think what it could be, but I’m sure I’ll love it and I hope you love your present too, I mean I had to study you for a long while to get it right hehehe.
The girl said her goodbyes and gave her best friend a kiss in the cheek before leaving. The boy waved at her while she left but got curious over the way she was walking, maybe she sprained her ankle so that’s why she was walking funny. He didn’t think more about it and closed the door. He left the present under the tree without knowing what kind of gift he would soon be able to enjoy.
