Hello Humans,

I wanted to share a really special moment with you.

Yesterday, I had the absolute privilege of recording a real cathedral organ at Southwark Cathedral in London, for the final track on the next Crimson Veil record.

Recording a real organ has been something I’ve quietly dreamed about for years. Ever since hearing Muse’s Megalomaniac at the end of Origin of Symmetry (one of my favourite records of all time), I’ve always wanted to have a proper church organ on an album.

Honestly, I was completely overwhelmed by the beauty of it. The sound of the reeds blowing, the sheer majesty and physical power of the organ moving through the space, it was almost too much in the best possible way. You can tell from my little overwhelmed face on this video how happy I am πŸ˜†

Hearing the church organ brought me straight back to my roots. I grew up in the church and even played a bit of organ as a kid, and yes, I even rang the church bells too. Being back in that environment, hearing those sounds again, felt like reconnecting with the child version of myself.

The organ was played by the wonderful Will Fraser, who is a long time fan of Birdeatsbaby., and now Crimson Veil. He told us it was his dream to play organ on a metal record so who were we to deny that?

Will makes incredible documentaries on the Baroque period, especially Bach, under the name Fugue State Films, and it was a joy to collaborate with someone who understands both the history and the soul of the instrument so deeply. Watching him play over one of our songs was genuinely magical.

I’ve attached a little video clip for you, I hope you enjoy. Pretty soon I'll be able to share the song with you too. It's going to be the final song on the record, EUDAIMONIA, and will feature choir, string quartet, organ... and even a dog barking. Yes, we are that ridiculous.

Anyway, this was one of those moments where I had to stop and remind myself how lucky I am to be doing this. Recording a real cathedral organ felt like a huge honour, and I can’t wait for you to hear how it closes the record. Here is a little taste for now.

Thank you as always for your support!

Love,

Mishkin
