Back when I played 40K 2nd edition, illustrations of Guardsmen and Squats using Rhinos were still floating around. Then they got the Chimaera and Rhinos became a Space Marine thing I suppose. Recently GW released some kind of APC and a few armoured cars that I thought looked a little too contemporary. My idea of the Imperial Guard is that they are less tacticool and more peasants carted into battle. Their transport should not look like something which values their life. They cheapest transport, even if a STC, should be a bit crude I think. Almost like a simple civilian donkeycart they found and repurposed.
I played around with the idea of a D-day beach lander with pre-tube spoked wheels like found on old carts (and WW1 vehicles). A coffin on wheels offering a bumpy, cheap ride into hell. Also strange looking so it's not just a truck or armoured car plucked out of a book. I drew them bottom to top, maybe settling on C18. I like the idea of it having no weapons, and just a few holes to poke rifles out of.
Later I explored the GW site a little and saw that they kind of did the D-day lander with the Skorpius Dunerider but it appears to be a more advanced Mechanicus hover thing.

I've been keeping my GBA SP on my nightstand, and realized that it's quite ergonomic for me. I like the flipscreen/clam design, and how the screen angles towards my eyes a bit better than on a regular Game Boy. The buttons on many other handhelds are too close to the edges and too small, and there are too many buttons for me nowadays. NES+LR is good enough for many older games. I just wish Select and Start weren't so badly placed on the SP because Select is frequently used in Metroid to switch to the missiles. The NES classics port should have used a shoulder button for that I think.
Anyways, I wanted to do a quick concept for a SP that stays quite simple but adds a touchpad because why not. Unsure if it's a feasible design, Maybe it's a primitive DS. The DS (lite) never quite worked for me because of the aforementioned button issues, and the bottom screen felt a bit unnecessary. I mostly focus on just one screen when separated vertically like that. One might as well bring up inventory and map on the main screen and then mouse around with a regular little touchpad. Could perhaps be used to play some sort of primitive FPS. I mostly like how mouse support encourages strategy titles though, like on the Amiga...
Wish the SP had a regular barrel power jack and headphone jack instead of the EXT ones, though their physical design is actually quite alright, kind of chunky-cute.
