I started on a new writing project (skeleton + maids cultivation isekai), but it's difficult for me to keep track of all the character descriptions, creatures and locations, so I made some visual doodles to help me. Haven't gotten to the part yet where the skeleton rides the giant centipede, but I'm thinking it's a thing which could happen. If anyone's interested I could post the text (only 4 chapters so far)... however, my writing is rather abysmal and it really isn't much to show. I've already erased the whole thing and started over once, having worked myself into a dead end. This is the second novel type story I've written (i.e. started seriously on)... maybe by the 5th I'll actually have something I could post on one of those writing sites (royal road?).
Writing RPGlit is tricky because you can't really treat it like actual game design, going nuts with numbers and formulas. It needs to be quite soft, capturing the general notion and appeal of character growth using simplified stat blocks, some interesting skill choices, clever builds and such. I guess the advantage with the format is that you can use some shorthands and tropes and the reader will just get it without much explanation. However, this doesn't work so well with cultivation mechanics (e.g. formations, realms, stages) which are not that well knows outside of China (and rarely explained anywhere). I'm kind of just winging it, doing my own system...
