In the second panel I had originally included a crowd behind Violet, but found that she blended in with it a little and was hard to see. I tried a number of things to fix it: darkening the colours on the crowd, making them all purple, but it was still making for a cluttered composition. Finally I let go of the sunk cost fallacy of how long they took to draw and just omitted them entirely. I think the page is better for it in the end. Speaking of background characters, that guy in the red shirt in the first panel is one of the better background dudes I've drawn recently. He really embodies background dudeness.
