Heya!
This was long planned but only now finaly had time to tackle it! I made an attempt to make a glowing infernal engine for Karlach - make it budget and beginner friendly (I have no prior experience with LEDs for cosplay or electronics, so this is an easy one!) :D
Materials needed are:
-heatgun
-Worbla crystal art/cosplayflex crystal
-nail scissors
-silicone cup or baking paper
-battery holder w switch
-isolation tape
-adhesive tape
-micro LEDs
-protectice gloves (I don't have some yet but it's way safer and easier)
-acrylics
-sponge
Alrighty, now that we have all the materials, let's get started by removing a few centimeters of the wire cover. This is rther hard to do without cutting the wires themselves but I found that with nail scissors and some practice it works well :)
I took eight LEDs, which means eight wires. Divide them in half (same colors together) and connect them with the wires on the battery holder by wrapping them around each other. You can also solder them but I found that it's not really necessary. Once connected, wrap the areas with isolation tape, so that they're secured and firm.
Don't forget to test the lights! If you accidentally cut a wire you'll find out then :D
Next, Divide them into two sections of four and fixate them to a sheet of baking paper (protects the table from the heat) with adhesive/isolation tape (any kind). They shoud face each other like on the photo.
Then, it's time to melt the crystal pebbles by heating them up with a heat gun inside a silicone cup. Once they melted, take heat protection gloves and put the mass on top of the LEDs. This is a bit tricky, but then shape the mass like on the photos. If necessary. you can cut away some details afterwards. The mass will connect the LEDs and mattify the light and spread it evenly.
Last but not least, paint the wires so that they won't stick out from underneath your bodysuit too much! I used a sponge and simple acrylics. I made both a blue and an orange engine :D I put it underneath my top (I'll make another top without a seam in the middle), use mastix skin glue to make it hold and place the battery holder in a small ppouch inside my pants!
