Gray is gradually recovering his memories, but he will never remember the part of his past involving the guardian spirit of the Forbidden Tome.
Gray can live in the Forbidden Forest in his human form, but he can't stay outside the forest for long as a human. To live in the human world, he has to take the form of a spirit. Since a spirit's death is permanent, he always returns to his human form whenever he can.
By the way, unlike Gray, Wine doesn't have the ability to die and come back to life. Once Wine's body dies, his soul disappears as well.
Gray, Forrest, and Cigarette also share a past that has yet to be revealed.
There's still a lot of the story left to tell, and sometimes I worry that it might feel a little slow or confusing. I hope you'll continue to enjoy uncovering the pieces of it together with me.
