hey peeps, only some bgs today, the paintings kind of took a lot of me so i didn't really have the energy to work on animations and stuff. Hopefully you'll enjoy what i worked on nonetheless!
so the first thing i wanted to show you is a work in progress of the map zap will get and that he will consult to trace his steps back to the other locations he visited and get the help to the archdemons he encountered in his trip. But, i kind of need your help. I used to refer to this part of hell as hellmerica, but it's kind of a dumb name. If you have something in mind that would fit for a mix of usa, states or america and hell please do tell me, since we're a bit stumped on this!
i also worked on the outside of the d.o.r.k. center, a rather simple bg that kind of shows andy how he's stuck there until he gets the means to fly off the floating building.
luckily, later in the level, all the archdemons that zap recruited will land the ringmaster's caravan on the outside of the place, so they'll be able to lend a hand-
as for the paintings of the d.o.r.k. center hallway, i managed to finish the last two! This one depicts the schism between god and the angels who were tired of being valets of his divine gooning session. They went and left, while collecting the sins the humans they saved generously donated them, and bought real estate in the underworld with them. The landlord of the underworld apparently extremely eager to get rid of the property, since it had the singular characteristic of altering the shape of those who inhabited it, as shown by the angels new demonic complexion.
and the last painting shows the situation for what it is at the time the game takes place: basically very little changed. The demons got tricked into torturing humans by god, who has found a way to maximize suffering for both of his progeny. Meanwhile he flooded the heavens with dope so he can continue doing nothing but jacking off to suffering while the new angels won't be able to stop him because they're too stoned to do anything. The few old angels who remained from the schism are instead tasked to keep the sins and punishment flowing from hell, scared of what god would do if the system breaks.
details might change in the final game since we're still kind of workshopping this, but hopefully you get the idea. Are the paintings too messy and hard to read, btw?
