Celebrating 3 Years of a day at - With a Modern "Dungeon of Corporate Madness" I am sharing with the whole community!
Heya everyone!
Wait - what? a day at already started three years ago? For me it honestly feels like it was yesterday… but then again, this project has repeatedly swallowed all sense of time out of me XDBut before I share what I have been brewing for this occassion I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you here! Without you all I never could've reached this amazing milestone and I am so grateful that you all make it possible to work on such a great project as a day at!!But I hope that many of you already got my thank you from my first and waaay too long Quip, so I am not going to ramble too much about it! Just know that I very much appreciate you being here!
So what exactly is a dungeon of "corporate madness" you ask?
Excellent question!Starting a day at was - in many ways - my own jailbreak from the corporate madness world. So this anniversary also marks that "escape" for me. So I figured I’d take that theme - in a twisted and ironic way - and… send you straight into your very own corporate nightmare that YOU can escape. (Sorry XD)It’s my personal take on a modern dungeon: never ending hallways, team building exercises … and a surprisingly high number of cows.It takes some inspiration of the Severance TV Show and aims to bring that slightly unusual, eerie corporate feel to your gaming sessions.
And to mark a day at's 3 years anniversary and to celebrate with you I want to share that dungeon, associated handouts and a "GM Guide" to go with it with you as community for free as a thank you for being here!
THE DUNGEON map:
This is the 60x60 "Dungeon of corporate madness" - a labyrinth full of strange rooms, corporate “areas of interest,” and just lot's of corporate weirdness your players can explore while they try to get from the elevators in the south to the ones in the nort-east corner:
And well, I didn't wanted to "just" throw a strange map at you, especially since those rooms aren't really self explanatory XD That's why I also put together a "little" GM Guide and some handouts that go along with it:
THE TOOLS to navigate the dungeon:
A GM GUIDE, including:
an introduction for the GM with ideas how to run the dungeon and special mechanics
ideas for NPCs and NPC encounters
Room descriptions for all rooms, including GM notes what might happen there
Here is a little preview (Page 6&7 | 20):
It's focussed on the narrative side of things so it stays system agnostic. However - I personally think that this might be a very great fit for a Paranoia:Troubleshooter One Shot.
The main idea the GM Guide introduces is that the Players need to “complete a series of fun and mandatory team buildings exercises” and should then head to the “final evaluation chamber” to be able to exit the dungeon.
Thing is: the last room is littered with lasers that increase or decrease depending on whether the players do their tasks well or poorly. This is tracked with “well done” or "disappointment" stickers that the PCs must stick in the sticker books handed out to them in order to face their “final judgment.”
Laser overlays, sticker, sticker book and descriptions of the team building exercises are part of this publication and available as handouts to download as well.
Here's an example for a "well done" sticker:
To help out your Players, at least in the beginning, there is also a little chaotic corporate “employee sketch” handout (scavenged from someone who is definitely doing fine!) included:
But best just download all the content attached to this post below or from the free part of the a day at cloud (> Free Maps > #0_dungeon-of-corporate-madness) and see for yourself what's all included!
A little bonus for active patrons:
I added a bit of extra things for subscribed patrons as a token of gratitude!
That includes (for all tiers):
a Foundry VTT module, with:
premade walls
door sounds
all overlays, handouts and audio files in the respective module folder
extra scene as "sticker book" that you can copy so your players can track their sticker count in game
AND: Sound files for completing (or failing) tasks! (You could play them when players get a "well done" or "disappointment" Sticker)
With a very big thank you to hassels-audio for creating those for us!! Here's an example ["Assignment acknowledged. Hazard Level reduced"]
Subscribed Patrons can find ALL content in the "#0_Other" > "Dungeon-of-corporate-madness" folder.
Thorough GMs also get the Dungeondraft map file so you can adjust the dungeon if you so wish and can find the Foundry Link in their "#0_FoundryVTT_Map_Modules" folder as well.
