Har, har - "Hey look, I'm drawing a character with 'Valentine' in their name in February!" - bet'cha never heard that one before, right? ;)
The other day I stumbled across a pic of Faye in a gorgeous dress, and knew I had to draw it. Haven't watched Cowboy Bebop in like ~15-20 years though, so did some Immersion Research and it turns out that exact blue dress isn't really attached to happy memories (it was a gift from the dude who scammed her and left her in even deeper debt), so an easy fix was to just change the colours and voila, now it's a new dress in the same style. :p
Once the pose and outfit had been drafted, I then wondered how she'd look wearing her normal outfit... aaand now here we are with two versions of the pic!
There wasn't really much of a concept going in, but I've been watching a lot of action flicks lately, and do vaguely recall that Bebop has its own fair share of 'collateral damage while chasing a bounty' type scenes. Y'know, when the protagonist steals a car like "sorry, I need this!", or bumping into people and knocking over stalls in a crowded market chase... it all adds up! So that's the foundation of the dialogue here - she got the tables turned on her by whoever she was hunting. Of course, there are textless alts in the Dropboxes too.
Also in the 'Faye Extras' folder are a bunch of failed sketches. Sometimes it takes a few attempts before something really clicks!
Anyway, I quite enjoyed this pic and think I'd like to revisit Faye sometime. She actually gets restrained quite a few times in the show, but it's always super flimsy stuff like a single pair of handcuffs. I think the most she ever got was in the movie, where her wrists and ankles were bound with tape. So... we should definitely fix that.
