DESCRIPTION

As it turned out, my brilliant (and totally original) idea couldn't actually be made. Well, it couldn't be made in one art. Try as I may, it was simply far too many functions to stuff into a sub-1,000 points art. I wasn't disheartened for long, though, as it simply meant I had to isolate the functions into their own arts, sort of like that single responsibility principle in programming or something.

In the end, I landed on needing precisely three arts: the first was the simple 'weapon throw' one. Not simple, really, but broadly speaking, that was its function. The second one was a 'marking' art, sort of like a destination point, and the third one was the actual 'blink' function that moved the cultivator to the 'mark'.

Surprisingly, the totality of points needed ended up being just shy for 1,500, as I didn't want to add pointless add-ons unnecessarily as I usually tend to do just to fill out the points.

[Congratulations, Host, on creating the 'Heavenly Throw' Weapon Art][...][Heavenly Throw][Type: Weapon Art][Rank: peak-Heaven][Host Comprehension: Minor][...][Though a Dao Path unto itself, concept of weapon throwing is hardly pursued by many. It requires one to bond and dis-bond from the weapon at speeds quite incomprehensible, and all so for a little extra yield beyond direct striking. Though Heavenly Throw hardly fills the gap, it offers an alternate path--those who gain '???' Mastery of it may freely control its trajectory, though it has to remain forward-bound. Additionally, at complete mastery, the cultivator will be able to retrieve the weapon into their hand regardless of the distance. While any weapon can technically be thrown, the art is formed around spears and javelins, primarily, which gain additional piercing power scaling with the traveled distance. The speed and length of the throw depend entirely on the cultivator's prowess][...][Creation Points Value: 620/1,000][Comprehension Difficulty: Prodigious][...][Creation Bonus: Retrieval Talisman (x10)][Retrieval Talisman (Epic) (x10) -- physically retrieves the object it is attached to, destroying itself in the process. Can only retrieve objects up to Divine Grade and no further. The maximum distance of retrieval is 5 miles]

I was actually kind of surprised with the extra functionalities, especially the innate retrieval function upon complete mastery. Best I did was simply add extra 'balancing' functionalities to make it easier for Han Yimu to throw with precision in the heat of the moment, but I guess the system interpreted it... differently.

[Congratulations, Host, on creating the 'Heavenly Mark' Special Art][...][Heavenly Mark][Rank: low-Earth][Host Comprehension: Minor][...][Leaves a nearly imperceptible trace of one's essence behind. Though it can be detected by those with high perception, it naturally disguises itself to blend within the surroundings. The link can withstand up to 6 miles of distance before the tether is broken. Can be placed on the living and inanimate. Each increase of mastery allows for an extra trace to be left behind. Upon complete mastery, the distance is extended to 1,000 miles, but each use of the mark beyond the distance of 6 miles--regardless of the nature--makes it so that another one cannot be used for 48 hours][...][Creation Points Value. 120/1,000][Comprehension Difficulty: Easy][...][Creation Bonus: None]

Another one whose 'final stage' kind of surprised me. I just wanted a way for him to mark the spear with as little visibility as possible, but the system's generous interpretation made it quite... tantalizing. Honestly, I might actually try and gun for the complete mastery, too, especially since the comprehension difficulty was at its lowest. That little 'regardless of the nature' made my brain itch, as it meant that the mark could be used in many different ways beyond just teleporting to it.

And lastly, there was the actual movement art.

[Congratulations, Host, on creating the 'Heavenly Leap' Movement Art][...][Heavenly Leap][Type: Movement Art][Rank: low-Myth][Host Comprehension: Minor][...][Art made to surprise and shock those who are unprepared for it; as its execution depends entirely on the secondary art, on its own it is completely useless. Even leaving behind ordinary Qi Trace is not enough. The strength of the art is that it costs no Qi to execute, it has no limited uses--in totality or subsequently--and no distance limit. All of them depend entirely to its sister-art. Though there are almost no changes throughout achieving the mastery of the art, upon reaching the total one, the art gains the secondary function of being able to move others--with their consent--in the same way. Note that, if used on a moving object such as a weapon, cultivator's own momentum is overridden by the weapons--the martial artist will always match the moving object][...][Creation Points Value: 700/1,000][Comprehension Difficulty: Difficult][...][Creation Bonus: 1x Set of Materials for 'Ephemeral Comprehension Array'. The next time you set up the array, you can do so without any Spirit Stones and at 50% bonus efficiency]

Just like the previous two, this one, too, packed some surprises. The ability to teleport another person was the first, but the momentum thing was a silent upgrade that I actually kind of totally forgot about while making the art. I did have a good ol' C- in high school physics, so it does make sense that I'd forget about something like that.

Otherwise, he'd only be able to teleport to the spear once it's reached its destination--whatever that may have been.

So, uh, thanks, system. I really appreciate it.

...

Huh. As silent as ever.

Anyway, now there's just one left: Wan Lan's.

But I just couldn't figure out anything that would fit her beyond some gimmicky nonsense of taking damage and 'saving' parts of it to convert into 'damage'. Though it sounded fine in concept because of the way Wan Lan fought, the conversion rate would need her to lose a limb in order to leave a scratch on the other person. Not even the kind of a scratch that drew blood.

I imagine that, just like the three above, completely mastering it would narrow that conversion rate considerably, but... I don't want to half-ass shit at this point. As such, I'd rather just take my time and explore a bit more before giving her the art. In the meantime, I can just ask her for another, simpler thing...

"Attention, everyone," despite them all meditating upon one thing or another, as soon as I spoke, their eyes darted open and over toward me. "I've looked through my coffers and found some things; Lan'er, unfortunately I could not find anything matching your request. I will keep looking but, in the meantime, let me know if you need anything else. As for the rest of you, take your time reading through them," I said, distributing the arts. "And ask me if you don't understand anything."

Their eyes lit up like freakin' festival lanterns as they grabbed at the booklets and started chowing down like their lives would end if they didn't read through them in a damn nanosecond...
