Getting back to the warehouse that the Cunning Hares lived at. I was welcomed to the sight of Nicole trying to strangle Billy as she was screaming incoherently.
Looking towards Anby, the bastion of sanity for this group. She said in her typical idle deadpan. "Billy broke the rotating door and the giant frontal window of a large building we were supposed to clear for an emergency commission... Nicole is angry that the client took part of the price to repair out of our commission."
Yeah... That's why clearing out actually valuable property in a hollow was just a pain in the ass in seemed. Fighting etherials wasn't exactly kind to the surrounding environment.
Either way, I looked at Anby with a solemn expression and said. "Anby, by the way. I need your help with an important task!"
"I need you to taste test all the food I am making. To see what kind of special buffs the dishes I make give you, so I can make sure you and Nicole at least have something to help on commissions."
Anby firmly nodded and spoke as though I gave her an ultra-important task. Akin to defusing a bomb or saving a bus filled with children that was driven into a hollow by accident.
"I will make sure to give a full report on all food items you make Jake." She said with a salute to finish off her words.
I then looked away from Anby and yelled out to Nicole. "Nicole! Stop bullying Billy and help me start cutting veggies!"
Billy shot me a look of utter adoration as Nicole huffed and gave the robot a swift kick to the leg before snorting. But she bounced boobily over with a smile as she asked with an overly sweet tone.
"Soooo Jake, how did you do today? Any dennies being added to the poor Cunning Hares ledger today?" Nicole said, batting her eyes at me.
I almost blushed as she put on that display as her massive milkers were against my arm. But after a moment of thought, I nodded and said thoughtfully. "Yeah, I can drop half of the HIA commission I took. I spent a good bit of the rest on food and whatnot as well."
Nicole smiled and gave me a nod before she said in a more normal tone. "Goodie! Now, don't forget the mushrooms in the ramen!"
And for a while, things almost became calm and domestic. Anby sat like she was Nicole and my own child at the dinner table. All but vibrating as she waited for the food.
Billy was making perverted, quiet chuckling noises as he looked at a news catalog about high-end android bodies.
And Nicole and I just worked together to make a huge pot of ramen after I explained that I planned to freeze the leftover ramen so that we could eat it for the next few days. And even on the go if we put the bricks I would make into some baggies.
It took a couple of hours for the ramen to be made, as I was actually making everything literally from scratch. But as we started to eat the food and using the Chaos Gatcha to look and see what this ramen actually gave me a boost for...

Even as the other three paused at my words. I mentally pulled the ticket because, fuck it I wanted to see what other nonsense was going to come my way at this point.
'Ah fuck.' I mentally screamed as a new trait slotted itself into my body and personal reality as it were. And what a fucking perk it was.

And then she added. "And in that same vein. Jake, you should just sleep here tonight again in fact. I will need to escort you to the Record Store to get you access to the good W-Engines anyway."
I nodded in understanding before I asked curiously, as I looked at Anby and Nicole's personal W-Engines that they had put away on the table across the way.
"How much does a custom W-Engine cost anyway?"
Nicole went pale, with Billy coughing under his breath. Anby then said rather bluntly. "Extremely expensive, we need to find the right high-quality Ether Crystal and element you resonate with. And then from there, depending on your fighting style, you have a W-Engine built around those parameters."
With Nicole then adding with a helpless expression. "And don't even mention the ether tracks either." Which made my tilt my head in confusion before I remembered that in the game your 'relics' were record/CD tracks that would give you substats.
And I couldn't help but have a flat expression as I said helplessly. "Wait so in order to be able to throw elemental attacks around and other nonsense. I need to have my own mixtape as well?"
Mihoyo truly was a music company and not even a game company anymore. I thought as all three of them nodded.
Still, after a good half an hour of talking about what kind of W-Engine I could possibly get. And the budget that Nicole was willing to chip in seeing as I was a member of her 'family' as it seemed.
We all decided it was time for us to get some rest, as it was likely going to be a good rush tomorrow, as Nicole already also had a bigger commission for us all to go on that required the whole team.
And as I slumped down onto the couch after putting the ramen away into a bunch of different cleaned-out ice cream pint containers because Nicole was too cheap to buy actual Tupperware.
I realized with a sigh as I mentally told myself that I needed to also read up more of that Alteration and Holy spell book's. I wanted to be able to sling magic like those totally not 'cultivators' of the Waifei area.
But as I lay there... I couldn't help but note a set of slowly blinking glowing red dots above me coming from the old-style skylight that was built into the factory roof.
And the reason I really noticed the duo of glowing dots was how oddly they blinked at times... As though they were a pair of eyes or something. But with a mental shrug, I just closed my eyes. As I figured it was just part of the mess of the electrical system on top of the warehouse.
