blip.

jeongguk just said something.

He is a hundred percent sure.

Something with room, something something hyung

Jeongguk stares at him so intensely too, he can barely even breathe.

“Wha—“

“Well, that was a mighty race!” Jin wraps an arm around his shoulder, immediately removes it too. “Yah, you’re all wet, how dare you?”

“I fell into the river, what did you expect?”

Jin aggressively rubs his arm dry, then points over his shoulder.

“Let’s have lunch, you guys can dry in the sun, right?”

“Can’t we at least—“

“Okay! Let’s go.”

He can’t get a word in, Jin just drags him by his wrist. When he shoots Jeongguk an apologetic glance over his shoulder, he’s met by an annoyed little pout.

————————

At the restaurant he tries to manoeuvre himself to slide right next to Jeongguk on the bench, but Jin just plops down right between them at the last second.

“Ah, that was a good race. It feels great to win.”

The menacing smile that comes with it is directed at only him.

Okay fine, he is here on vacation to see Jin. Pursuing his brother right in front of his eyes is not the smartest thing he’s ever come up with. But come on, he deserves summer love, at least one of his boners deserves to have a happy ending.

“What are you guys gonna do for the barbecue night show?”

Taehyung asks, brushing his hair back, that laidback smile on his face.

Right, they lost the race, he’ll have to do some sort of show with Jeongguk.

He glances over at Jeongguk, only to find him still pouting, a cloud of depression above his head, forking his steak as if it’s a voodoo doll.

“Uh, I don’t know, thought maybe we could do a floatie fight.”

That has Jeongguk perking up, he looks over at him, nods once.

“Lame, I say you fight til death.” Jin proposes. “And I will give you a weapon of choice.”

“Absolutely not.” He crosses his arms in an X. “Knowing you, you’d give Jeongguk an actual sword and you’d give me a plushie.”

“Come on, I’d give you a fork at least.”

“I think maybe you two could do a reenactment of Titanic.” Taehyung cuts in, mean smirk on his lips. “The car scene—“

“Maybe I’ll let you both attack Taehyung?” Jin laughs. “Whoever kills him first wins.”

“Hey.”

“Floatie fight sounds good.”

Jeongguk says then, well he sort of mumbles it, doesn’t even look up from his plate.

“You’re only agreeing cause Jimin proposed it.”

Jin accuses.

It causes Jeongguk to almost choke on his bite, and if it wasn’t that it’s Taehyung’s add on.

“He’s agreeing cause he can see Jimin shirtless that way.”

Jeongguk swallows quickly, eyes wide, even glances over at him once, waves his hand quickly.

“That’s not—“

“It’s okay, Jimin looks good shirtless.”

Taehyung smirks even bigger, winks at him from across the table.

He would return the compliment if there wasn’t a big brooding cloud of doom coming his way. It’s one thing to experience the jealousy as a bystander, but knowing he’s the object of Jeongguk’s jealousy is a little different.

It sends a tingle down his spine. He’s always been into the possessive type.

“Well, I still think fight to death is the best idea. Otherwise maybe a fishing—“

“No.” Jimin cuts him off. “No more fishing.”

“Heartless.” Jin shakes his head. “I’d lend you my best hat.”

Jimin shivers at the mention.

“We’ll do a floatie fight, it’s decided.”

He says, glances over at Jeongguk once, who gives a solemn nod.

“To death.”

Jin mutters under his breath.

—————————

The floatie fight, unlike what Jin and Taehyung were claiming, is his way to see Jeongguk shirtless.

Those nipple piercings were made to stare at, hiding them under a useless piece of fabric, even if that fabric is a sexy greasy white tank top, is a crime.

The barbecue is on, the regulars are all there. Yoongi is telling Namjoon a story about coal that is undoubtedly a lie. Hoseok and Taehyung are messing around with tequila inside. Jin is keeping a way too close eye on him, as if he knows exactly what happened on that riverbank.

He tries to maintain his less than innocent self, spends a little too much time in the shower. Douching is a tough job. Waxing takes time too. All just in case, just in case the “something something room something something hyung” wasn’t a figment of his imagination.

It’s hard to tell though, Jeongguk isn’t all too good at giving signs. He’s actually piss poor at it. No eye contact, he doesn’t try to get him aside, looks completely disinterested as if they didn’t let him touch his nipple piercing and told him to ride his thigh on a riverbank.

Maybe it’s Jin’s intense gaze. Honestly, he might as well be looking through binoculars and it would be less obvious.

And if it’s indeed Jin, then he’ll have to tread carefully too. Otherwise fishing is back on the menu.

So, he tries not to look at Jeongguk taking his shirt off before entering the pool, but come on. He’s sun-kissed and built like a god. It would be mean to his eyes not to let them wander over that body.

He licks his lips, takes his own shirt off and takes the gay unicorn floatie to the edge of the pool, gets on it while Jeongguk climbs on an octopus floatie on the other end.

“Gentleman of the realm.” Jin calls the attention of the group. “It’s time for the floatie fight of death.”

Everyone cheers from the sideline, Hoseok and Taehyung have prepared tequila shots for everyone as if it’s some grand spectacle.

“We’re not fighting to death?”

“Boooo.” Yoongi calls.

“Silence mortal.” Jin says, then he holds out a cap. “Three rounds. Place your bets, winner or winners can split the prize money.”

All of them throw some cash in the cap, then start noting down their guesses on who wins the rounds.

It’s always like this, Jin makes it a whole ordeal, as if they’re gladiators going at it. He can’t help but chuckle, glances over at Jeongguk, who isn’t even looking at the group.

His dark brown eyes are fixed solely on him.

A shiver runs down his spine.

If he can land one more makeout session he’ll consider the night a success. There’s got to be a way to distract Jin, he could break one of his fishing rods or something, or maybe hide the barbecue tong.

“Ready? Start!”

Floatie fights are not his forte. He’s pretty sure everyone has bet against him, since he lost the championship last time. But he won’t let Jeongguk win so easily.

Sure he might be smaller in size, but he’s pretty muscular too, he’s done his fair share of martial arts, it’s not like he can’t fight. But his real skill? it’s cheating.

Jeongguk doesn’t know him all too well, he goes easy on him at first, doesn’t push him too hard, barely even makes a move, so Jimin takes full advantage, kicks against the underside of Jeongguk’s floatie as he pushes him so he capsizes.

There are boo’s and cheers from the sideline, but he doesn’t pay them any mind, only has eye for Jeongguk who resurfaces with that faux offended look, a surprised little jaw-drop.

Jimin offers him his meanest smile.

It seems Jeongguk is serious now, lifts himself on top of the floatie with newfound confidence.

God, the way the water rolls off his body should be framed.

And this is the real reason he signed up for a floatie fight. Jeongguk in just swimming trunks, dripping wet, black hair dripping, intense dark brown eyes fixated solely on him, nipple piercings glistening in the garden lights.

Yeah. Good fucking evening.

It doesn’t surprise him one bit that Jeongguk uses more force the second round, but it does surprise him that of all places Jeongguk decides to push him, his hands go for his waist.

Normally shoulders or chest would be a better spot, but those slippery hands wrap around his waist, and instead of pushing him back, Jeongguk pulls him closer.

He gasps, slides too close to the edge of his floatie and capsizes into the pool.

When he surfaces, there’s the faintest bit of a smirk on Jeongguk’s lips.

Possibly the hottest he’s ever looked. Not even the octopus floatie can lessen the damage.

He lifts himself back on his unicorn, gets serious this time. As serious as one can get on a rainbow unicorn, performing for 5 men on the sideline like some sort of court jester.

Jeongguk is ready for it, slightly hunched as if he can pounce on him any moment.

It’s kind of hot, in a ridiculous type of way. He wouldn’t literally want to be pounced but the intent in Jeongguk’s eyes is what gets him going. It forebodes good sex.

The last round starts, and he immediately goes for Jeongguk’s shoulders, clamps his hands around them as much as he can, tries to push him off his floatie.

Jeongguk is so steady, he doesn’t even budge. No, it’s worse, he doesn’t even push back, he just lets him try.

So really, Jimin is just feeling up his shoulders here, trying to get him to move over without losing his balance.

Jeongguk smiles. It’s a confident, easy smile. He quirks his pierced eyebrow once, as if asking is this working out for you?

Shit.

Brooding, quiet Jeongguk was easier to handle. This Jeongguk is bad for his health.

But he’s not about to back down either, can’t do that in front of the other guys. It is a fight to the death after all.

So if Jeongguk won’t budge he’ll just have to make him. He slides one of his hands down Jeongguk’s shoulder slowly, suggestively, towards his chest.

There’s a loud boo from the side which is probably Jin, he can’t be bothered to look.

Jeongguk’s smile fades slowly, and he catches his wrist just in time, his thumb was almost on his nipple.

A sharp tug on his wrist makes him lose balance, his trusted unicorn slips away under his knees, and his only option is to jump right on the octopus floatie, pushing Jeongguk over, landing right on top.

There are loud cheers from the side, he’s pretty sure Hoseok is filming the whole thing, but the sound drowns out in regards of this much more prominent thing.

A wet Jeongguk underneath him, pinned down on the floatie by his hips, two strong hands around his waist.

Oh.

This.. position.

Jeongguk’s eyes run over his body while they slowly drift to the edge of the pool.

heat rushes up to his cheeks, and he quickly tries to move off just in case his dick starts acting up, but Jeongguk just wraps an arm around his waist, rolls the both of them off the edge and drags him underwater.

It’s unfair how strong Jeongguk is, but right this moment he doesn’t mind it so much. Jeongguk’s arm steadies him when they make it back to surface, wrapped nice and tight around his lower back.

Yoongi screams in despair on the side, Taehyung and Hoseok high five, Namjoon groans, Jin laughs evilly.

But Jimin can’t really focus, not when pecs are this close to him. A shame he didn’t get to lick those nipple piercings when he had the chance.

He swallows, lifts his gaze.

Jeongguk pushes his wet black hair back, an inch or so taller than him, those dark brown eyes scan over his face as if to make sure he’s okay, arm still tight around him.

He could just melt

Until those eyes linger on his lips in a way less sweet manner.

Fuck.

“Great, the floatie fight of death ended in a tie! The most boring of all outcomes.”

Jin’s voice cuts through the moment, and Jeongguk lets go of him quickly.

Hmph.

“I got every round right, give me that prize money.”

Taehyung goes for the cap, but Hoseok beats him to it.

“So did I.”

“I can’t believe I had all my hopes in Jimin.” Namjoon shakes his head. “I should have known.”

“I had it completely wrong, Jeongguk, Jimin, then Jeongguk again.”

Jimin snorts softly, couldn’t care less. He glances over at Jeongguk, who’s retreated into the water, back to his quiet brooding self.

He gives him a small apologetic smile, they can’t really make out in front of Jin. Or any of them for that matter, it’s bad manners.

“Jimin! Can you make a cocktail for us? I heard your Piña Colada is really good.”

Taehyung calls, mean smirk on his lips.

What a gremlin.

“Let me just change into dry clothes first.”

He gets out of the pool, looks at Jeongguk once more, those dark eyes following his every move.

Fuck, he needs to find a way to get him alone.

————————

He’s made a few Piña Coladas for everyone, but not for himself, can’t have Jeongguk’s tongue swelling up if they get to kiss again tonight.

So while everyone is standing around the barbecue like neighbourhood dads, engaging in conversation and drinks, he finds Jeongguk still in the pool, swimming laps.

He blinks, but it doesn’t seem the others think it’s out of the ordinary.

“He said he didn’t get his cardio in.” Jin chuckles, shakes his head. “Who would do half an hour of cardio on barbecue night?”

“He’s always like that, if you’re wondering.”

Yoongi says.

He was actually wondering.

It’s cute really, he likes his guys a bit peculiar.

“I’ll give him a refreshment.”

He excuses himself, pretends he doesn’t hear Jin call behind him to give Jeongguk a sip of piña colada.

No, he made sex on the beach this time, yes, because of the name.

If he stares a little longer at Jeongguk’s back muscles while he swims a lap, no one notices. Or maybe everyone does, who cares. He’ll deal with Jin later.

Jeongguk notices his looming presence another lap later, blinks his stupid pretty brown eyes.

Jimin holds out his drink.

“Want a sip?”

Wow, that went great. He didn’t even stutter or anything. Maybe cursed speech is finally over.

Jeongguk nods, swims up to him, puts his hands on the edge of the pool and lifts his upper body out of the water, looks at him expectantly.

He’s a little distracted by.. well, everything about that sight. the water dripping down Jeongguk’s body, his arm muscles flexing, and the look in his eyes. The way he doesn’t speak but just nods at the drink in his hand.

Jimin snaps out of it, looks down at his glass, the straw in it, and it clicks.

“Oh, right, let me just—“

He brings the straw to Jeongguk’s lips, and it’s a mistake.

If valves were bad, this is a hundred percent worse. Jeongguk wraps his lips around the straw, those silver rings catch the light, and he can’t help but relive the feeling of them grazing over his lower lip.

But it’s not only that, Jeongguk looks at him while he does it. No innocence behind those big brown eyes, all Jimin can detect is that intense withheld hunger.

A rush of arousal licks down his spine, and his dick twitches.

Jeongguk lets the straw slip out of his mouth then, but stares at him a little longer.

He’s usually the best at flirting, this is supposed to be his turf, but he can’t breathe. And if he stays here any longer he’s going to actually sport a semi and Jin won’t let that slide.

“Good— uh— good luck with the water.”

He manages, then makes a beeline straight to the kitchen, pinches the bridge of his nose and groans.

Good luck with the water.

Just kill him.

He goes straight for the vodka bottle, pours it into his cup until the ratio is 1/6 sex on the beach 5/6 vodka, the way it ought to be.

He takes a big sip, avoids the straw just in case, feels it burn down his throat, distracts him from his aura loss for about three full seconds.

“Hyung.”

Oh no.

He clutches his glass in his hand, stares at the cupboard in front of him.

“Yeah?”

His heartbeat picks up steadily. He doesn’t even dare to move.

A presence creeps up behind him, hovers there, just far enough out of reach they don’t touch.

“Make me one too.”

Jeongguk’s voice is so close to his ear he can feel the breath fan against his earlobe.

Multiple shivers run down his spine.

“O—okay.”

He nods, waits for Jeongguk to back off, but he doesn’t. He keeps standing right behind him, the warmth radiates against his back.

Okay, yeah. He can do this.

Making a cocktail with Jeongguk looming over him, almost pressed against him. No problem.

“Your brother can see us you know?”

He mumbles as he takes another glass from the cupboard.

In true Jeongguk manner, there’s no response but for a soft hum right next to his ear.

So he tries to shut his brain off, there’s nothing hard about making a cocktail.

When he pours the peach schnapps however, soft lips brush against his neck, and he loses focus, pours just a little too much.

Fuck.

Jeongguk isn’t even kissing him, he’s just ghosting his lips over his skin, breathing hot air against his neck, driving him insane.

Hyung..”

Oh—

That tone.

A shiver runs up his spine, tingles all the way up to his head.

He knows that tone. It’s that desperate, horny, I-want-to-touch-you tone.

His dick twitches in his shorts. This is what he was trying to avoid in the first place, but Jeongguk just won’t let him escape.

He swallows as he goes for the orange juice next, casts a glance outside just to make sure Jin is distracted.

When he finishes the drink he turns around quickly, hands it to Jeongguk, tries to put some distance between them just so he can breathe.

Jeongguk blinks a few times, looks down at his drink, then back up at him with those huge brown eyes of his, twinkling in the kitchen lights.

“Sorry, am I too much?”

Jimin blinks as well, still a little shaky.

“Huh?”

“I know you’re here for my brother.” Jeongguk says then, tone a little softer, eyes casting down. “And I know you’re leaving for America again when summer ends..”

Oh.

They’re having this conversation.

Here, now.

He’s unprepared, a little tipsy too, and still half hard as well.

Jeongguk rubs the back of his neck.

“So I.. I mean, I don’t want to pressure you into anything.”

“You’re not pressuring me.” He corrects Jeongguk quickly. “I don’t feel pressured.”

He feels horny. And guilty, in the slight amounts.

“But.. I asked you to come to my room tonight..” Jeongguk glances up at him once, somewhat apologetically, then casts his gaze down again. “But you don’t have to, hyung, I know you’re not here for me.”

Oh.. that’s what Jeongguk asked.

He hears the sentence now, loud and clear.

Sneak into my room tonight hyung.

The intensity in Jeongguk’s eyes when he said it, wow. Fuck.

Heat rushes through his body at rapid speed.

“And if you want to leave it at just that kiss then I’m fine with that, I’ll stop.. you know.. pursuing you.”

Jeongguk chose the worst exact moment to talk about this. Not only is he in just swimming trunks, still wet, with his chest out and everything, but also, the kitchen is right in front of the window outside, and Jin is casting glances at them inside.

Plus, Jeongguk is completely unaware of the effect he has on him, as if his lips brushing against his neck just now didn’t light a fire within him, as if that tone he just used doesn’t still reverberate in his mind.

He swallows, casts a quick glance at Jin again, then shifts just a little more so he’s got his back turned towards the window.

“You’re right, I’m going back after summer..” He nods. “And primarily, I did come to see your brother..”

Ah, this is difficult.

Jeongguk stares at him with those big brown eyes.

“And you know, it feels a little wrong..”

Jeongguk nods slowly, casts his gaze down, a sad little gloom over his head. He’s not all too good at hiding his emotions.

Jimin almost coos at it, but he just looks down at his feet for a bit.

“I can’t just— play around with you for the summer and leave, it wouldn’t be fair, and it might get awkward. plus your brother would kill me.”

Jeongguk manages a small chuckle at the last sentence, but then nods again, answers with the softest voice.

“I get it.”

Oof.

This is painful.

This is not at all how he wanted this conversation to go. He wanted to have a good time, make out a little more, win Jeongguk over for the summer and all that. Yoongi got to him though. He can’t just do all these things and push the consequences aside.

But Jeongguk looks so downcast now, tapping his finger on the glass in his hand, nodding once more.

Fuck.

It feels like he just chose the wrong option in a dialogue game, he’s got no idea how to mend this.

Ah he should never have kissed him in the first place, should have kept his greedy hands to himself. Now he’s just made it really awkward.

“What are you two conspiring about?” Taehyung comes around the corner, wraps an arm around Jeongguk’s shoulder. “How to poison Jin?”

Jeongguk chuckles even though his smile doesn’t reach his eyes, and he just nods.

“Yeah, we were talking about making him fight to death with Yoongi.”

“That’s a brilliant idea, Yoongi has been getting on my nerves all night.”

Taehyung looks at him then, those warm brown eyes a tad sharper, almost.. wary of him.

“I’ll just..”

He points outside, gives Jeongguk another look

Jeongguk gnaws on his lower lip, nods then.

Shit.

He bites on the inside of his cheek as he walks outside and rejoins the group.

He thought this would be the right thing to do. Put all his boners and horniness aside and look at the situation realistically. Yoongi would be proud of him, he told him to be careful with Jeongguk’s feelings, to consider that he’s leaving again.

So why does his heart feel so heavy?
