Yeah yeah, I know Chinese New Year is over, but it was working on it DURING the festivities that inspired the work! Today am proudly releasing Midnight Peony, my latest oriental themed dress, and I think its quite a looker!
This dress is my longest project to date (by total hours worked) and I hope that you will appreciate all the fine details that I added in on both the geometry and the texture. This dress features:
-Long flowing cloth-simulated sections-My beloved cleavage sculpt 🔥(Thanks again rose, for teaching me this trick)-A cleavage sculpt-free "Inner Top" version-Removable lace elements-A ravaged and scuffed half-state 😳-Pop-out, colorable embroider elements
My main goal for this project was to find some way to integrate AI into my workflow because I keep hearing how awesome AI is now. It was very time consuming and frustrating, and mostly a waste of time, but in the end, I did find that AI is great for generating highly detailed meshes that I could not possibly create by hand. I used this workflow for the creation to the rope element that you can see on the hip, as well as for a special Peony hairpin that I created as a bonus for my 😎Fashionistas😎
I'm ashamed to say that trying to wrangle this AI generated mesh took almost as long as the entire dress itself. Lowering the poly count and unwrapping it was a literal nightmare and I had to manually paint over the Ambient occlusion map to compensate for the myriad discrepancies in the geometry. Its still a bit scuffed if you scrutinize it super closely, but it looks really great at reasonable distances. It looks super detailed and will be an incredible adornment for your honey's portraits!
Anyways, projects like this really remind me of how fortunate I am to have your encouragement, your support, and your expectations on my shoulder, dear reader! If this was just for my own amusement.. then there would have been a 1000% chance of this project's abandonment at multiple junctures 💀
