안녕하세요,
이번 ‘March-Monster’와 협업하여 준비한 소재 관련하여 제작 후기를 12월 행사가 끝난 후에 여러분들께 공개하고자 계획하고 있었습니다. 다만, 이번에 AI 사용 문제 제기가 되어 관련 제작 과정과 설정을 먼저 공개하기로 결정하였습니다.
시작하기 앞서 을 실현할 수 있게 해준 ‘March-Monster’에 감사의 인사들 드립니다.
의 비주얼 스타일을 주제에 맞춰 어두우면서도 아름다워야 하기에 진지하고 무겁게 접근했습니다.
제작은 다음과 같은 절차로 진행되었습니다.
We had planned to share a production review of the material for , which we prepared in collaboration with ‘March-Monster’, after the December event.
However, we were asked if we used AI for this illustration. So we decided to show the creation process of first to prove that we didn't use AI.
Before we begin, we would like to thank ‘March-Monster’ for making a reality.
We approached the visual style of with a serious and heavy approach, as it should be dark and beautiful in line with the theme.
The production process went like this
일러스트의 경우, 2주년 팝업 때와 마찬가지로 비비노스 총감독님이 전체적인 콘셉트를 구상하고 스케치를 그려주셨습니다. 이후 여러 단계의 제작 과정을 거친 뒤 규멩 공동 감독님께서 6명의 전신들을 조금 더 ALIEN STAGE의 콘셉트와 맞아떨어지는 방향으로 질감과 디테일을 리터치와 보정해 주셨습니다.
For the illustration of , as with the 2nd Anniversary Pop-Up illustration, the overall concept was developed and sketched by Director VIVINOS. After several stages of production, QMENG(co-director) retouched & corrected the textures and details on the full bodies of the six characters to make them more in line with the concept of ALIEN STAGE.

In the following post, we'll share the story behind the illustrations. As we mentioned above, the visual style of needed to be dark and beautiful to match the theme, so we had to approach it seriously and heavily.
[컨셉 스케치 & 설정]
이번 시리즈의 주제는 ‘꽃’입니다. 캐릭터를 상징하는 꽃의 경우, 탄생화보다 캐릭터의 서사를 상징하는 꽃으로 선정했습니다. 여러 가지 꽃을 찾아보면서 꽃말이 캐릭터의 서사와 잘 맞는지 고려하였습니다.
[Concept sketch & story setup]
The theme of this series is flowers. We chose a flower that symbolizes the character's narrative rather than a birthing flower. We looked at a lot of different flowers and considered how they fit into the character's narrative.

일러스트 작업 전, 비비노스 총감독님의 콘셉트 스케치로 작업을 시작합니다. 관 자체의 디자인은 굉장히 한정적이기에 관이 아닌 관 콘셉트의 ‘보석함’처럼 보이도록 디자인했습니다.
아래는 캐릭터별 설명이 있으니, 저희가 정리한 꽃말과 함께 읽어주셨으면 좋겠습니다.
We start with a concept sketch from director VIVINOS.
The design of the casket itself is very limited, so she wanted it to look more like a “jewelry box” than a coffin.
Below is a description of each character, which we hope you'll read in conjunction with the Florography we've compiled for each flower.
미지 : 클레마티스
꽃말 : 고결, 당신의 마음은 진실로 아름답다.
미지는 처음 구상했을 때부터 때 묻지 않고 긍정적인, 순수한 이미지가 강했습니다. 때때로 너무나도 순수하기에 분노라는 감정을 솔직하게 드러내는 야만적인 행동을 하기도 하고, 순수하기에 사랑하는 것을 '사랑한다'라고 말할 수 있는 용기가 있지요. 그런 순수한 사랑은 예쁜 하트 모양의 보석함에 들어가 있다면 아주 잘 어울리겠지요.
겉모습이 누군가에게는 어떻게 보일지언정 자신 안의 감정을 티끌 없는 형태 그대로 보여주는 미지는 아름답고 고결합니다.
그리고 그런 미지의 솔직한 감정과 웃음이 이따금 주변 사람들에게는 아주 아프고 불편하면서도 포기할 수 없을 정도의 매혹입니다.
MIZI : Clematis
Florography : Virtue, your heart is truly beautiful.
From the beginning, MIZI had a strong image of being untarnished, positive, and pure.
Sometimes the emotion of anger is so pure that MIZI acts savagely, and sometimes it's so pure that she has the courage to say “I love” what she loves.
MIZI is beautiful and noble because she is an unadulterated representation of what she feels inside, regardless of how she looks to others.
And MIZI's honest emotions and laughter are sometimes painful and uncomfortable for those around her, but also fascinating and impossible to resist.
수아 : 백합
꽃말 : 순결
'얼음공주'라는 별명이 수아에게는 어떻게 들릴지 모르겠으나, 수아의 차갑고 묵묵한 모습이 그 별명에 딱 어울린다고 생각합니다.
누가 알았을지는 모르겠지만 사실 수아는 누구보다도 여리고, 상처받기 두려워 속마음을 꼭꼭 숨겨두었을 뿐인데 말입니다.
수아가 속마음을 내어 주었던 사람은 가디언 아래에서 자매처럼 함께 지냈던 언니와, 미지 그 두 명뿐이지요.
뾰로통해 보이는 표정에 가끔의 심술 맞는 말들을 뱉으면서도, 친구에 대한 것은 상세히도 기억해 내는 수아의 모습에 미지는 생각했을 것입니다. 수아의 속마음은 자신이 보았던 그 어떤 친구들보다도 깨끗하고 가녀리다고요.
누구보다도 순결하고 여린 그 마음이 백합과 닮아있습니다. 이번 그림에서는 수아를 백합과 함께, 흠집 하나 없는 깔끔하고 매끈한 순백의 나무관에 넣어두었습니다.
SUA : Lily
Florography : purity
We're not sure how the nickname “Ice Princess” sounds to SUA, but her cold, silent demeanor fits her perfectly. Who would have thought it, but SUA was actually more fragile than anyone else, and she kept her feelings tightly hidden for fear of being hurt.
There are only two people SUA has ever confided in: her sister, whom she grew up with like a sister under Guardian, and MIZI.
MIZI must have thought that despite her pouty expression and the occasional grumpy remark, SUA's ability to remember things about her friends with such detail made her realize that her heart was cleaner and finer than any other friend she had ever seen.
Her heart is so pure and delicate that it resembles a lily. In this illustration, SUA is placed alongside the lily, in a neat, sleek, snow-white wooden casket with no blemishes.
현아 : 빨간 앵초
꽃말 : 비할 바 없는 아름다움
현아의 첫인상은 누가 보든 '거칠다', '호쾌하다'로 통일되겠지요.
하지만 그 안에는 누구보다도 깊게 팬 구덩이가 있습니다.
그리고 지금, 현아는 자기 자신의 구덩이를 오로지 자신의 손으로 다시 채워나가고 있지요.
현아는 자기 자신이 옳다고 생각하는 길을 스스로 개척해 나가는 그런 아이입니다. 약해진다는 이유로, 상처받는다는 이유로 뒤돌아보는 일 없이 굳건히 앞으로 나아가는 것이 현아의 현 모습입니다.
어떤 시련이 있어도 계속 '사랑'을 이어 나가려 하는, 그런 꺾이지 않는 강한 마음은 어디에도 비할 데 없이 아름다운 것입니다.
화려하고 짙은 붉은색과 강렬함을 더해주는 노란색은 그런 현아의 에너지를 잘 표현하고 있다고 생각했습니다. 그녀가 오랫동안 품어온 뿌리 깊은 정의와 사랑으로 자란 나무를 가공하고 다듬어 관으로 만들었습니다.
HYUNA : Red Primrose
Florography : love beyond measure
HYUNA's first impressions are likely to be “wild” and “exciting” no matter who you ask.
But inside her is a pit deeper than anyone else's.
And now HYUNA is filling its own pit with its own hands.
HYUNA is the kind of kid who carves out a path for herself that she thinks is right.
She doesn't look back when she feels weak or hurt; she keeps moving forward, and that's what HYUNA is today.
No matter what trials she faces, she wants to keep on “loving.” That kind of unbreakable strength of heart is unparalleled.
We felt that the colorful, deep red and the intense yellow really captured the energy of HYUNA.
A tree that grew out of the deep-rooted justice and love she had long harbored was processed, trimmed, and turned into a coffin.
이반 : 아네모네
꽃말 : 이룰 수 없는 사랑
사랑은 너무나도 광범위한 감정입니다. 누군가에게는 그날 하루 내내 달콤한 걸 잔뜩 먹은 것처럼 가슴이 쿵쾅거리게 하는 반면에, 누군가에게는 중요한 테스트를 앞둔 것처럼 조마조마하게 만드는 감정이기도 합니다.
이반이 가진 '사랑'은 꽤 삐뚤어져 있어서 특히 다른 사람들은 공감하기 어려웠을 것입니다. 더군다나 자신의 마음을 잘 보지 않는 이반에게는 평생 풀어나가야 할 무거운 수수께끼 숙제처럼 느껴졌을지도요.
아네모네만큼 이반을 잘 표현해 줄 수 없는 꽃은 없을 것입니다.
이반의 '연심'은 절대 이해받을 수 없기에, 이루어질 가능성은 너무나도 작거든요. 그럼에도 이반의 사랑을 애써 네모난 틀에 구겨 넣어보고자 했습니다. 고급스러워 보이는 관은 그렇게 보이고 싶은 이반의 무의식과 닮아있습니다.
IVAN : Anemone
Florography : Love that can't be fulfilled
Love is such a broad emotion.
For some, it's a feeling that makes your heart thump like you've been eating sweets all day, and for others, it's a feeling that makes you nervous like you're about to take a big test.
IVAN's “love” is pretty skewed, so it's probably hard for others to relate to.
And for IVAN, who doesn't often look at his emotions, it might have felt like a lifelong puzzle to solve.
There's no better flower to represent IVAN than the anemone.
IVAN's “heart” will never be understood, so the chances of it ever happening are too small.
Still, we wanted to try and squeeze IVAN's love into a square mold.
The classy-looking coffin resembles IVAN's subconscious desire to look that way.
틸 : 에델바이스
꽃말 : 소중한 추억
틸은 유난히 아낙트 아이들 중에서도 피부에 생채기가 많았던 아이입니다. 어느 날은 갑자기 입가에 벌에라도 쏘인 것 같은 상처를 달고 오고, 또 어떤 날은 눈이 퉁퉁 부어 채 자라지도 않은 앞머리로 애써 가리고 있는 모습들이 태반이지요. 누가 말하지 않더라도 동기들은 그가 가디언을 만나는 운이 안 좋았다는 것을 알 수 있었습니다.
하지만 그런 틸은 결코 꺾이지 않고 그런 압박 속에서도 짝사랑하는 미지와의 소중한 추억을 안고 버팁니다. 그리고 동시에, 이반에게는 무엇과도 바꿀 수 없는 기억들을 안기기도 했지요.
툴툴거리며 나무 밑동을 주먹으로 쿵쿵 쳐대다가도, 아주 작은 것에도 금세 기분이 좋아져 보이는 걸 보고 누군가는 '쉬운 녀석'이라고 생각했을지도 모르겠습니다.
겉으로 보기에는 가장 사고뭉치에 반항아 같지만, 사실 그 누구보다 따듯하고 애정 어리며, 인간적인 마음이 많이 보이는 인물입니다.
그런 틸의 사랑과 추억을 단단하게 빛나는 메탈로 둘러진 멋진 관에 꽁꽁 넣어두었습니다.
TILL : Edelweiss
Florography : Precious memories
TILL was one of the ANAKT kids who had a lot of small scars on his skin.
One day, he suddenly comes in with a gash on the corner of his mouth that looks like a bee sting.
On other days, he is often seen with puffy eyes, which he struggles to cover with his short bangs.
Even if he didn't say it, his peers could tell that he was unlucky to meet the Guardian.
But TILL never breaks, and even under such pressure, he holds on to the precious memories of his crush, MIZI. But at the same time, it also gave IVAN memories he wouldn't trade for anything.
Someone might have thought he was an 'easy one', given the way he could go from grumbling and pounding his fists on the base of a tree, to seemingly instantly cheered up by the smallest of things.
He's a troublemaker and a rebel on the outside.
In fact, he is warm, affectionate, and sensitive on the inside.
All of that TILL love and memories are tucked away in a beautiful coffin encased in solid, shiny metal.
루카 : 보라색 장미
꽃말 : 불안한 사랑
루카의 사랑은 불안합니다. 루카는 평생 불안함을 느껴본 적 없음에도, 그의 사랑이 불안하다는 것은 본능적으로 알고 있을 것입니다.
숨 쉬는 횟수, 표정, 입꼬리의 각도까지 하나하나 모든 것이 통제받는 구속적인 환경 속에서 나고 자랐다면 '건전한 사랑'에 대해 고민해 볼 기회조차 만무하지요. 하지만 사랑은 여전히 사랑이기에, 루카도 노력을 하지 않았던 것은 아니었습니다. 다만 그 노력이 과연 상대를 행복하게 해주는 것이었을지는 모르겠습니다. 루카는 현아와 떨어진 내내 생각했습니다. 자신이 무엇을 해야 했을지, 대체 어떻게 해야 사랑하는 사람과 피보다 진하게 이어질 수 있는지에 대해서 말입니다. 하지만 그렇게나 똑똑한 루카였음에도 책을 잔뜩 읽고 열심히 공부해 봐야 알 수가 없었습니다. 루카의 마음을 알아줄 이가 있을지는 모르겠으나, 루카는 자신이 배운 것처럼 가장 화려한 관에 가장 화려한 장미들을 듬뿍 욱여넣을 것입니다. 현아를 향한 루카의 진심 어린 마음을 곧 아실 수 있도록, 다음 편도 제작진들은 힘내서 달리고 있으니 많은 기대 부탁드리겠습니다.
LUKA : Purple rose
Florography : Anxious Love
LUKA's love is uneasy. Even though LUKA has never felt insecure in his life, he instinctively knows that his love is insecure.
If you're born and raised in a restrictive environment where every breath you take, every facial expression, every angle of your mouth is controlled, you don't even have a chance to think about 'healthy love'. But love is still love, and it's not like LUKA didn't try.
However, we don't know if his efforts are really making the other person happy.
LUKA thought the whole time he was away from HYUNA. About what he should have done, and how on earth he could be more connected to his loved ones than blood. But as smart as LUKA was, he couldn't figure it out without reading tons of books and studying hard.
We don't know if anyone will ever know LUKA's heart, but as he learned, we will put the most colorful roses in the most colorful casket.
We're working hard on the next episode so you'll soon see how much LUKA cares about HYUNA, so stay tuned.
