Realis is a science fiction and dark fantasy series that contains discussion of violence, injury, slavery, cannibalism and disease. This campaign never depicts sexual violence, always shows you where the sword goes but never what it does, and always errs on the side of maximalism.
It is easy from within a crisis to presume a past of placidity. It is simple from the clutches of despair to imagine another’s life graced with hope. It is common for those visiting the grey moon of Sapryc to reminisce about the colors of other moons that are so bright, so saturous as to be nauseating with life.
These are, of course, acts of folly. Mistakes of ontological category.
Sapryc is not a moon of reduced hue or increased chaos. It is and always has been a parasite world. Long before its light grew monochrome, it drew away the happy pigments of smiling cheeks. Long before the Venerant See or the Imperial Empest arrived, each with grasping claws, Sparyc’s own kings extended their talons.
It is not a broken place. It is a place that breaks. Ask any lucky enough to leave it. Ask them! Ask them if the fields they once stomped through on their way to the schoolhouse are still the right shade of green. Ask them if the potato mash is buttery the way it was in the memory of their tongue. Ask them to place a hand on your shoulder with love, and find the fear with which they tremble at the thought of real connection.
And so if Sapryc is a breaking-thing, the question down the path is what broke Sapryc.
