DESCRIPTION

Though most associate the attempt to connect heaven and earth with the Venerant See’s famed (and ruined) Cathedral Omphalic, the church was not the first to attempt such an act. No, they were only followers in form, shadowing the massive, spaceward hoist-towers of the Marmorine Dynasty, which are said to have marked each major inhabited moon left after the Rounic Gap. These, unlike the See’s cathedrals, were godless things. While they bore the white and gold of that vast empire, they had little else in the way of beauty to them. Least of all were they meant as places of worship (whether god, self, or other). The Marmorine built them quickly and strongly and for one purpose only: Further domination of space and time. Some have suggested that this is why the Cathedral Omphalic fell so easily to the Imperial Empest, who are naught but the Marmorine come out of their cocoons. A fair reading, but one must wonder: Is it because the Queen-Commander knew the weakness of the tower, or because she despised it as a model of high beauty finds insult with an artless portrait?
