Inside of the Cloister of the Hollow Heart, the unnamed band hired to protect Mirador Cantata finds something lacking across the rest of Sapryc: the mundane rhythms of everyday life. A pealing bell gathers the clergy to regular meals. Daily tasks are felt as chores—simple and rote—instead of the sweaty, desperate acts allowing for meager subsistence. Gaps in the day and quiet in the night even allow the Cloister’s residents to pursue their interests, chipping away at personal works of devotion or scholarship, or simply dozing off.
Such a life is deserved by all the moonfolk of Realis, across each of the Thousand Moons. But here on Sapryc, one must ask: What is its price?
