Hey everybody! Another month, another GOCKHAUS progress update!
As mentioned in my previous post, I'm RIGHT on the cusp of being at the point where I'd be comfortable releasing a demo. But due to a combination of some irl busyness and a couple things in the game taking longer than expected (a prominent one being that my old lighting plugin from BreedTown 3 had some incompatibilities, so I had to find a new one), I'm not quite there yet. Sorry! But, be rest assured that development is still moving along at an excellent pace.
Now, in the full game I absolutely want to include some voice acting. One of the big deciders for when the demo comes out will be whether or not (and how much) voicework gets included there. I've included a poll below to get your opinions; what do you think, should I wait to release the demo until it's got voicework?
Also, I went into more detail in my post "The Itch Situation", but world events related to censorship have certainly been negatively affecting my mental health. I'm going to proceed as normal; though my games have been deindexed on Itch, they have yet to be deleted. If Itch DOES completely ban NSFW though, that's going to be a problem. I've lately been working on uploading web browser versions of my games onto Newgrounds, but if Itch goes down, then I'll need to figure out a new site for uploading downloadable versions. There's been some recommendations worth looking into though, so I have options.
My perspective is ultimately that porn's been around since the beginning of humanity, and people have always tried to ban it; the tide ebbs and flows, the pendulum swings back and forth. We're just in a rough patch right now, but I have confidence that things will get better with time.
I know I have a fan or two in the UK; if you're comfortable (and can read this), I'd love to see you in the comments talking about how the Online Safety's Act affected you. Apparently there's some talk of a similar act being passed here in the US, and I'm hoping with all my might that doesn't come to pass 😩
