Father Thomas Barret arrives in the very small, very remote town of Hennessey, New South Wales to fill in for the parish's ailing priest. He doesn't believe any more, he hasn't for a while now, and really he's only stayed in the church for the pay check. However there's a missing woman that no one seems to acknowledge, a teenage girl named Dot that sets his teeth on edge and a couple of misfits who insist on being his friends.
As Dot's behaviour gets ever stranger, Thomas grapples with suspicions of an actual possession in his midst... But is The Devil really the bad guy?
A crime mystery meets magical realism; a story about possession, friendship, grief, rabbits, snakes and flies.
