Chapter 1: The Ash of the Last Spark

Elemental Nation - Hidden Leaf Village

The sky above the ruins of the Leaf Village didn’t burn; it bled.

It was the final hour. The Otsutsuki invader stood suspended in the air, a god of pale skin and cold eyes, preparing to drive a spike of black iron through the heart of the world. Beneath him, Naruto Uzumaki lay in the dirt, his body shattered, his friends silent in the debris around him.

“We have one shot, kid,” Kurama’s voice had rumbled, not from the usual cage, but from the very center of Naruto's fading consciousness. There was no anger left in the great beast, only a heavy, final resolve. “Not Baryon Mode. Beyond it. We burn the fuel, the engine, and the pilot. Every drop of chakra we have, forever. We won't survive it.”

"Do it," Naruto had whispered, spitting blood onto the cracked earth. "Let's finish this."

The transformation didn't explode with a roar of wind. It was a silent, blinding ignition. The golden coat of the Nine-Tails didn't just wrap around him, it sank deep into his flesh, fusing with his cells, turning his blood into liquid sun.

When Naruto lunged, the sheer speed of his movement shattered the concept of distance. He was simply there, his fist burying itself into the Otsutsuki's chest. The impact didn't just break bones; it ruptured the fabric of space.

As the alien god screamed, his body dissolving into ash, the absolute burnout of Naruto’s chakra pathways began. The internal networks that allowed him to mold energy, the coils, the gates, the core, literally evaporated, melting under the heat of a power that was never meant to be held.

The sky tore open. A jagged, violet rift in spacetime, pulled apart by the sheer density of the final blow, began to drag the remnants of the battlefield into the void.

Naruto felt Kurama's presence tear away first, a silent goodbye echoing in the dark. Then, his own soul was ripped from his collapsing body, sucked into the freezing, weightless vacuum of the rift.

The last thing he felt was the sensation of falling through an endless sea of stars, his spirit scarred, empty, and entirely stripped of the energy that had defined his existence.

Mortal Kombat Universe - Earthrealm

He woke up screaming.

But the scream didn't come from a legendary hero; it came from a newborn infant, wailing in a drafty wooden cabin nestled in the snow-capped peaks of Earthrealm.

He grew up as an orphan in a tiny, isolated mountain village. They called him Naruto, a name he had babbled since he could speak. To the villagers, he was a strange, quiet boy with hair like winter straw and eyes too blue for his own good.

He was plagued by fever dreams. In his sleep, he remembered flying through trees, leaping across rooftops, and a warm, golden presence that felt like home. But when he opened his eyes, there was only the biting Himalayan cold and the absolute emptiness inside his chest.

He had no chakra. When he tried to focus, to find that familiar spark in his gut, he found nothing but a cold, hollow wall. His new body had no chakra pathways. His spiritual blueprint was completely scarred from the burnout of his past life.

Yet, his soul was still that of a demi-god. And that was the problem.

Without the proper channels to vent his massive spiritual energy, it built up inside him like steam in a sealed boiler. Whenever he got angry, scared, or overly emotional, the energy would violently erupt through his muscles as raw, chaotic Ki.

The crisis came when he was twelve.

A band of rogue mercenaries, scouts from the Black Dragon cartel, raided the village storehouse. One of them, a scarred thug smelling of cheap liquor, grabbed Naruto by his collar, laughing as he raised a rusty machete.

Panic seized Naruto. Deep in his chest, the dam broke.

A terrifying, invisible pressure exploded outward. Naruto threw a wild, desperate left hook. The strike didn't just hit the mercenary; the sheer, unchanneled kinetic force launched the grown man thirty feet into the village well, shattering the stone structure.

But the recoil was devastating. Naruto’s own arm bones fractured under the pressure of his raw energy. His skin split, blood spraying from his pores as a violent, burning fever took hold of his body. He collapsed into the red-stained snow, his internal organs bruised by his own power.

Realizing he was a danger to the very people who had taken him in, Naruto dragged himself away from the screaming village, crawling into a deep, secluded mountain ravine to let the cold take him.

"A soul too large for its vessel," a dry, rattling voice echoed through the freezing wind. "How thoroughly entertaining."

Naruto forced his swollen eyelids open.

An ancient, one-armed man stood over him in the blizzard, wearing nothing but tattered purple robes. The wind howled, but the snow seemed to drift around the old man, never touching his skin.

"Your spirit wants to fly, little boy," the hermit murmured, crouching down. He placed a single, warm finger against Naruto's forehead. Instantly, the roaring fire in Naruto's veins quieted, cooling to a soothing, steady hum. "But you have no rivers to guide the water. A few more years, and you would have reduced yourself to ash."

"Who... are you?" Naruto rasped.

"They call me Oro," the old man chuckled, picking Naruto up with his single arm as if he weighed nothing at all. "And I think we are going to build you some new rivers."

For the next six years, Oro didn't teach Naruto how to fight. He taught him how to survive his own existence.

In this world, there was no chakra. Oro explained that true strength came from Ki, the raw, physical energy of the body, and the natural energy of the earth and sky.

"You cannot force the world to bend," Oro would yell, whacking Naruto's shins with a heavy bamboo staff as the boy tried to balance on a single wooden post over a thousand-foot drop. "You must let the mountain breathe through you. Let the wind carry the weight of your fist!"

Because Naruto carried the vague, instinctive memories of "Sage Mode" from his past life, he understood the concept of blending with nature far quicker than any normal mortal. Under Oro's sadistic guidance, Naruto began to manually forge a brand-new set of energy pathways through sheer, agonizing physical repetition.

By the age of eighteen, he had done the impossible. His body was a perfect conductor. Whenever he drew upon his Ki, faint, glowing red lines hummed beneath his sun-kissed skin. He was compact, incredibly dense with muscle, and faster than the mountain leopards.

But because his spiritual capacity remained so unnaturally massive, Oro took precautions.

"The bandages will act as a physical bottleneck," the ancient master said, wrapping a heavy, metallic-woven cloth tightly around Naruto's dominant right arm, locking the fingers into a permanent, relaxed fist. "It will force your left side and your legs to work twice as hard to balance the energy. It keeps you safe from your own limits, and it keeps your opponents from dying too quickly."

Naruto flexed his bound right arm, feeling the immense, coiled tension locked behind the heavy fabric. He looked down the mountain, toward the valleys below.

He didn't need chakra anymore. He had the Sage Arts Fist.

The small trading post at the base of the mountains was a dusty, run-down tavern filled with travelers, merchants, and low-lifes. Naruto sat at a corner table, happily slurping down a massive bowl of thick noodles. His bound right arm was tucked casually inside his loose-fitting, sleeveless orange and black vest, making him look like a wounded mercenary traveling with a broken limb.

His senses, sharp as a razor from his training, scanned the room. He could hear the nervous sweat dripping down the bartender's neck. He could smell the cheap gun oil on the men in the back.

And then, he felt the sudden, electric shift in the air when she walked in.

She was stunning. Her dark hair was tied into twin ox-horn buns, secured with crisp white ribbons. She wore a modified, form-fitting blue qipao that accentuated a pair of phenomenally toned, powerful thighs. Her posture was perfect, radiating authority, discipline, and a quiet, lethal grace.

Chun-Li.

She didn't look at Naruto, but her eyes swept the tavern with professional precision. She was hunting.

"Hey, lady," a rough, grating voice called out from the back corner. A massive, scarred man with a metallic plate over half his face stood up, flanked by several heavily armed thugs. "You're a long way from the Interpol offices. This isn't your jurisdiction."

"Kano," Chun-Li said, her voice smooth but hard as steel. "The Black Dragon cartel has been smuggling weapons through this sector into Outworld portals. You’re under arrest."

Kano laughed, a wet, ugly sound. "Arrest me? Boys, take her legs. I want to keep the rest of her intact."

Five men drew heavy, military-grade blades and lunged.

Chun-Li didn't even flinch. She pivoted on one foot, her leg moving so fast it became a blue blur.

"Hyakuretsukyaku!"

A rapid-fire barrage of kicks rained down, the impact sounding like firecrackers as their ribs shattered. They flew backward, crashing through tables.

But Kano smirked, pulling a heavy, glowing red energy dagger from his belt. He didn't charge her; instead, two of his remaining men pulled out submachine guns, aiming directly at her chest.

"Let's see you dodge bullets?" Kano sneered.

Before the triggers could be pulled, a heavy wooden bench shattered across the face of the first gunman.

Naruto stood there, his left hand casually tucked into his pocket, his bound right arm still resting against his chest. He grinned, his wild blonde hair falling over his forehead. "You know, it's really rude to shoot a lady in a restaurant. Some of us are trying to eat."

Chun-Li glanced at him, her eyes widening slightly at his speed. "Stay out of this, civilian! This is official business!"

"Doesn't look like you're having much fun," Naruto laughed, ducking under a wild swing from a mercenary. Sliding inside the man's guard, Naruto delivered a short, sharp left elbow to the man's sternum.

Crack.

The raw kinetic impact of Naruto's strike threw the man across the room.

Chun-Li's eyes sharpened. No weapon, no stance... but that power. It's like a battering ram.

Kano cursed, throwing his energy dagger directly at Naruto's throat. Naruto simply swayed his head, the red blade whistling past his ear by a fraction of an inch, embedding itself deep into the wooden pillar behind him.

"My turn," Naruto purred.

He lunged forward, his movement so explosive that the wooden floorboards splintered. He appeared directly in front of Kano, blocking the mercenary's heavy cybernetic fist with his left forearm. The impact rang out like a hammer hitting an anvil.

With a fluid spin, Naruto swept Kano's legs. While Kano was gravity-bound, Naruto drove a devastating left-handed palm strike directly into his chest.

"Kikoken!" Chun-Li screamed from the side, launching a swirling blue ball of Ki energy that slammed into Kano simultaneously.

The double impact sent the Black Dragon leader crashing through the tavern's heavy oak doors, tumbling into the dusty street outside. Sensing he was completely outmatched, Kano scrambled to his feet, activated a localized teleportation device on his wrist, and vanished in a flash of red light.

"Damn it," Chun-Li muttered, rushing to the doorway. She stopped, turning her gaze back to Naruto, who was casually picking a piece of lint off his vest.

"He got away," Naruto said, offering a cheeky grin. "But hey, we make a pretty good team."

Chun-Li walked over to him, her hands on her hips. Her chest heaved slightly from the exertion, her sharp eyes scanning his bound right arm and his highly defined physique. There was a sudden, heavy warmth in her gaze, an intense, physical appreciation that she didn't bother to hide.

"Who are you?" she asked, stepping close enough that Naruto could smell the light scent of lotus flowers on her skin. "That wasn't standard martial arts. And what's with the arm? If you fought like that with one hand, I'd hate to see you with two."

"Just a hermit's apprentice," Naruto chuckled, his gaze locked onto her striking brown eyes. He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a teasing murmur. "And maybe if you buy me another bowl of noodles, I'll show you what I can do with both hands."

Chun-Li’s lips curved into a slow, confident smile. She reached out, her fingers lightly brushing against the heavy, metallic bandages on his right forearm. "Is that a challenge, kid? Because I don't think you can keep up with me."

Before Naruto could reply, the temperature in the room plummeted to near freezing.

The air in the ruined tavern grew heavy, thick with the smell of ozone and wet earth. Outside, the clear mountain sky darkened to a deep, ominous purple.

A bolt of blue lightning, thick as a tree trunk, crashed directly into the center of the room.

Chun-Li leaped backward, her hands instantly rising into a defensive stance, her Ki humming around her fists. Naruto stepped in front of her, his left hand dropping from his pocket, his body sinking into a deep, relaxed stance as his senses screamed at the sheer, godlike power manifesting before them.

As the blinding light faded, a tall figure emerged from the smoke. He wore a conical straw hat, white robes trimmed with blue, and a heavy, dark blue vest. His eyes glowed with a pure, electric white light, and arcs of blue lightning danced across his broad shoulders.

"Raiden," Chun-Li breathed, her defensive stance softening slightly, though her respect remained absolute. "The Protector of Earthrealm."

The God of Thunder turned his glowing gaze toward Naruto. The pressure in the room doubled. It felt as if the very sky was pressing down on Naruto’s shoulders, demanding he kneel.

Naruto didn't kneel. He grinned, his eyes locking onto the god. He drew a deep breath of natural energy, his muscles expanding slightly under his vest as he resisted the divine gravity.

"You have a lot of spark, big guy," Naruto said, his tone entirely devoid of fear. "But I'm not looking for a fight unless you are."

"Naruto Uzumaki," Raiden's voice boomed, echoing like thunder in a valley. "I have watched you from the heavens. You are an anomaly. A soul born of another realm, carrying the embers of a dead god, yet trained by the oldest hermit of this world. Your power is great, but it is locked."

"It's locked for a reason," Naruto replied, raising his bound right arm. "My master says I'll break the world if I let it loose."

"We shall see," Raiden said.

Without warning, Raiden vanished.

Naruto’s instincts, honed by a decade of Oro's brutal sneak attacks, flared. He didn't look back. He spun, his left arm coming up in a perfect parry as Raiden appeared behind him, a fist crackling with lightning driving toward Naruto's ribs.

BOOM!

The collision of lightning and physical Ki sent a shockwave through the tavern, blowing the remaining roof tiles straight into the sky. Naruto felt his boots slide backward across the floorboards, leaving deep grooves in the wood, but he held his ground.

Raiden’s eyes flared with approval. "Impressive. You withstand the lightning. But can you strike back?"

Naruto smirked. He didn't unbind his right hand. Instead, he channeled the raw natural energy from the earth beneath his boots, pulling it up through his legs and into his left fist. The air around his left hand distorted, shimmering with intense heat.

He threw a straight left lead punch.

It wasn't a fancy strike. It was a pure, concentrated line of kinetic force.

Raiden caught the punch with his palm, but the sheer, staggering weight of the blow forced the God of Thunder to take a full step back, his boots crackling with electric sparks as he absorbed the impact.

The tavern fell completely silent. Chun-Li watched in utter disbelief. A mortal, fighting with one arm bound, had just forced the Protector of Earthrealm to retreat.

Raiden lowered his hand, the lightning fading from his eyes, replaced by a deep, satisfied calm.

"It is as I feared, yet hoped," Raiden said, straightening his robes. "Shao Kahn's forces grow stronger by the day. The Mortal Kombat tournament is upon us, and Earthrealm's defenders are few. Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Johnny Cage are ready, but we need a wild card. We need a fist that the sorcerers of Outworld cannot predict."

Raiden stepped closer to Naruto, placing a heavy hand on his shoulder. "Naruto Uzumaki. Will you fight for the survival of this world?"

Naruto looked at his bound arm, then at Chun-Li, who was staring at him with a mixture of awe and intense, burning curiosity. Finally, he looked back at the Thunder God.

"Tell me where the tournament is," Naruto said, his grin returning, wild and fiercely confident. "I've been holding this right hand back for too long anyway."

A/N: I had a fun thought after watching Mortal Kombat: what if Naruto were reborn and participated in the Mortal Kombat tournament with abilities reminiscent of Oro from Street Fighter? Plus, I can only imagine the luck he’d have meeting the women from both universes (Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat). That's the gist of my idea, and I hope you all enjoy it. Catch you later!
