quantifica will officially resume in June. thank you for your patience, I've had a lot going on this year, but, for better and worse, it has finally settled.
I am currently editing the John Wick video.
recently wrote a short review of Signs of the Sojourner and a longer review of Wanderstop.
between March and April, I released 6 videos in 6 weeks! this boosted the Patreon by $5! the following month, it dropped by $100. did a quick prod on BlueSky and talked to a few other 'tubers, and it seems people's relationship to Patreon has evolved since I launched this thing: a) people just have less disposable income now, b) between YouTube Premium and Nebula, people feel there are more affordable alternatives to backing loads of creators on Patreon, c) general disillusion with Patreon as a platform, and d) when people have disposable income, they'd rather back someone smaller than me.
this is all very sensible, but means I have to adapt. wrestling with the perception that I am more successful than I am (and the perception that Nebula is way more lucrative than it is). which is not to say I'm in trouble! I am doing fine. for the first time in ages, I am genuinely doing fine. doing fine means I have room to think about long-term sustainability, and, if the Patreon is gonna trend downward no matter how often I release or how successful the releases are, then I have to lean more and more on ad revenue and sponsorships. this is not a direction I am hyped about; they are much harder to predict, and I would rather make 60k/year with a predictable paycheck than 80k/year with wild variance month-to-month. that's how I end up back in debt.
I have a few ideas for how to manage this, and, as always, you will hear what I decide before the general public. meantime, thank you again for being my most consistent means of sustenance. I'm very lucky to still be doing this after so much time, and it's because of you.
