" Neutral Pressure Saturated Submersible Suit (NPS³)
Deep sea diving rig, using the principle of submarine ballasts, aims to take advantage of the unique physiology and inflatable nature of certain individuals to overcome crush depth.
By completely saturating the diver's body with surrounding water, internal pressure equalises with external pressure. This allows them to withstand crushing pressure while simultaneously maintain their figure without inflating.
Combined with the diver's weight and equipment weight, the constantly added water maintains negative buoyancy at every depth, allowing the dive team to be deployed from surface and slowly descent straight down to their destination in the abyss.
Canisters of pure, compressed helium was supplied to be released when the mission has concluded to achieve positive buoyancy and begin their ascent.
Though individuals with this set of adaptation need not be concerned about decompression sickness, a slow ascent is recommended as sudden reduction of surrounding pressure may decompress the diver, accelerate their ascent and risk bursting.
The suit has integrated computer and pressure sensor to regulate water intake and removal. All equipment are made to withstand extreme pressure and cold of the deep sea, in theory, They never tested in situ proper. This was a major oversight.
Heat. The equipment were never made to withstand heat. Minimal survey of the site in conjunction with their tiny size left the existence of these hydrothermal vents completely unknown.
When the external pressure sensor malfunctions, the program defaults to inundating the wearer to minimise any risk of barotrauma.
When the internal pressure sensor malfunctions, the compressed helium is released prematurely to begin ascent, and a distress signal is broadcasted.
A failure of both leads to rapid inflation, accelerated ascent and decompression. God knows how much water they took in on the way down and how much they will take on the trip up. When they reach the surface, pray their hides still hold.
