Here is a transcription of what editing a graphic novel looks like (more or less).
Editor: There needs to be more action in the Casino chapter. No one even uses their cat things.
Me: ok
Editor: okay so Cattoli says, they can go home , but then there is a commotion
Me: (thinking hard) and then the giraffe escapes
Editor: and they should be there to bodyguard, like a USB drive handover, like something that makes it more complicated than just mercenaries.Me: ok the USB drive is in the rabbit's foot cattoli plays with before.
Cattoli taken hostage
Me: it's Dana's time to act. but she hesitates
Editor: but because she hesitates, the bad guys 'get' Vamp.
Editor: then you can use the 'cats having multiple lives' thing.
Me: oh yeah I forgot to do anything with that. (Thinking very hard about what Cattoli thinks about this.)
Editor: Then Rita bandages up Vamp etc
(At this point I go rogue and start ignoring the suggested edits).Me: and then Vamp says 'don't tell rita about this'
Editor: ok thats fine
Here is a page draft that I will end up cutting up for other bits of the book potentially. All text in pencil that doesn't make it into pen is 'potential dialogue' that I kept to show you.
