I took a dance workshop in Bastrop, Texas.
It was a few years after the biggest fire in the state (2011). It burned for 55 days.
Engaging with so much beauty via this workshop, while honoring the deep sadness and loss of this land and the people on it was such a humbling experience.
But that is what we must do in times of great challenge… turn to art, turn to expression, turn to community.
To make sense of the nonsense.
To bring peace in the midst of chaos.
To remind ourselves that it’s ok to feel — that it’s human, it’s natural.
Through creative expression and creative community, I am reminded of this — over and over and over again.
