Mud elemental and Myasine chibi reveals + Devlog #132 + Alt costume poll #7 is on!
Mud elemental and Myasine! ^^Mud was definitely part of the easier ones, even with her outfit requiring some extra attention. That's generally how it is with "smaller" booba!Myasine was more complex, first of all because of her frilly top, but also because her arms and hands got in the way for several poses! Had to be careful about the layer order to avoid the cast light in her sprites ending up under the boob layer! Nothing insurmountable though. Maybe a weird thing to say but I'm very happy with her cleavage lolAnyway, I hope you'll like them!
I also have a small surprise: As it turns out, Citronelle's boobs for her KO and Sexy poses were just too small, so I spent some time making them a notch bigger!
I'll leave the old ones up, I'm simply going to add a R5 version of this pic with the rest of the chibi sprites ^^

Once again, full art month!After I finished updating Citronelle's sprites, I went to back to drawing more designs. If you remember, I'm now taking care of monstergirl polls #31 through #50.I somehow managed to get 3 done in only 2 weeks, which might not sound like a lot, but there is a lot more effort involved than you might expect to end up with a good ref doc for the artists!First of all, I need to come up with a general idea of what the design will be based on the MG species and her mods, which usually involves research and experimentation. It's also important to figure out a pose, general look and BE progression that haven't been done for other characters, and ideally a recognizable silhouette too while also keeping the BEW setting in mind. This is the most fun part, but it can be tough in some cases!I actually tend to start working on the characters that feel the hardest to me / that inspire me the least. If I already have ideas for a character, I usually leave that one for later! I'd rather figure out the tough ones early rather than leaving that weight on my shoulders ^^Then, I actually have to draw the character. It's not a full illustration, but it still needs to be detailed enough for the artist to be able to reliably refer to it! There's also some extra art required for the BE and face, as well as for various character dependent features. There's a few other more technical factors to keep in mind, but that's the gist of it!Finally, the ref doc needs to actually be written! This part kinda sucks, but there's no avoiding it.So yeah! The characters I worked on this time were Centaur, Secretary bird avian and Plague doctor! Very excited to get them commissioned and finished, I've got a good idea of what all three's roles will be in the game ^^
After that, I had to take some time IRL once again related to my move. Things are really moving forward now, I can't wait! I don't remember if I mentioned it before but the plan is to get back into coding after the move. I expect another 2 art months for me before then, so I want to take care of as many designs as possible before then as well as Vuu and Rose's chibis (which need an actual redraw, like what Cerelea got!)
And speaking of, Vuu's chibis are what I've been working on the rest of the month. I was hoping to get them fully finished before this devlog, but it's looking like I'll need another couple days for that!Vuu and Rose's chibis are especially old, my chibi style has evolved a lot since with my characters looking a lot curvier now instead of this sort of bean shape Vuu and Rose have ^^All of Vuu's sprites (about 35 poses...!) have been cleanly redrawn, and they look way, way better than before! All that's really left for her now is the booba!I'll make sure to post comparisons when I reveal these, it's interesting to look for the differences ^^
So yeah, very good progress! I don't actually have that many chibis left to show either by the way, it's really just Vuu, Rose, Nightmare and Slimegirl after this, until I start taking care of the rest of the cast.
