DESCRIPTION

Howdy again! Here’s what’s up:

In this post I just want to summarize what has happened and what me and Moana (hopefully) learned from it.

Honestly, I’ve given the entire pole artworks a long time ago, fully knowing that this event is irregular and will be hard to implement. Any sane person would've tried it, saw that it’s not worth the effort and moved on, but we both kept on stubbornly trying to make it work, because we liked the idea.

And the idea was simple - “the destination is as important as the journey”.

Kira can already become uber slutty, and relatively soon there will also be a pregnancy system. But there’s no actual place for her to repeatedly engage in sexual activities and we wanted to change that. My idea was for our game to have a bunch of random and scripted repeatable sexual events, and the pole was meant to be the first out of five “major” places where H-events could be seen by choice and not by chance.

But it turned out to be too big, bloated and confusing. Pair that with plenty of unfortunate external factors - and Moana ended up spending half a year on trying to make it work.

All this time she spent on the pole could've been used to do something better, another quest, relationship expansion with one of the romanceable characters, main plot advancement, literally anything. The effort and time needed for the pole is simply not worth the end-result.

The pole has all art, for all possible appearances Kira could have (all breast sizes, hair, pregnancy, etc.), the event system works, and so does the consent form that lets you customize it. But not all of the text was coded in by Moana, it’s simply too complicated and convoluted for her to implement fast.

All of this is a direct result of our game having too much variability in both art and text, which is an issue that we’re continuously trying to fix without sacrificing anything

To be clear, we’re not abandoning this idea or anything, We just wish to work on it smarter and I regret not stopping myself and Moana half a year ago. Moana will slowly continue implementing the text for the pole event in every update, or maybe she’ll try to crunch it all (up to her), but we made a decision to wrap this update up.

The main lesson that I learned from it is that we shouldn’t try to implement everything at once.

If we just focused on one thing at a time, this whole situation could’ve been avoided. We should’ve just worked on just anal sex for example, and then worked on vaginal, etc. Instead we did everything, breast pumps, cum drinking, double anal, double vaginal, vaginal+anal, vibrators, condoms, blindfold, gag, old men, pregnancy, silicone breast sizes, absurdly big breast sizes, “alternative” characters, etc. - all that I could think of. And all of it is already coded in with the pictures present in the game’s files.

It’s not just poor planning, feature-creep and poor time-management, we also had real life problems that significantly slowed us down, but we 100% handled it all poorly.

Feature-creep is a recurring and growing issue of ours, we keep making things bigger and more complex.

For example, last year we had this whole “Major” and “Minor” update idea to become more consistent in our release schedule, and what do we do in our first “Minor” release? That’s right, I showed Moana a funny bouncy Kira animation I made, she said “Mulan, you’re a genius!” and we spent three months making 700 pictures of Kira’s titties bouncing around. At this point, I think me and Moana might have a single shared braincell. But you’ve got to work with what you have, and I’ll do my best to make that braincell the hardest working one on the planet.

To be clear, we’re alright, we’re not sad or upset and we sincerely hope you aren’t either, we just felt that we owe you an explanation on what has transpired.

Thank you all for your patience and support! None of this would be possible without you, and we will do my best to pay you back for your kindness by becoming smarterer!
