DESCRIPTION

EDIT: Fixed some mastering issues in the latter half and removed a pitch-up that I didn't like in the beginning. I think it's done! 😄

It is the best poem I've ever written, but is this good enough to ship?

_
Burlington, you’ve let me down (me down)
A vagrant in my hometown
Sun up and beautiful sundown
Across the lake—
(Across the lake) a gorgeous frown (frown)
And sun sets on autumn trees
And water glows with auburn breeze

Beneath the misty morning glow
Here lies a town I used to know

With brickened flats and salty cats
A perfect way, the eyes of mourning and
Bid adieu, the yearning calling for
The speckled memory of a
Place I used to see

Lovely girls’ summer dresses
Brown hair lasses, laced up pretty
Flash her teeth and give me
Witty, sweet remarks ‘bout how
I rose and fell—

Back and forth, I look around
Burlington, you’ve let me down
A vagrant in my own hometown
Sun up and beautiful sundown

Across the lake a gorgeous frown
And sun sets on autumn trees
And water glows with auburn breeze

Moon abound the furthest sounds (the furthest sounds)
Of paths on bikes and paths on ice (paths on ice...)
A northern jewel lost about
The flatland’s pockets, do without
My old and dead (old and dead)
The place I wish to rest my head
Should she come back, old decrepit (old decrepit...)
Quiet howls, a night so fetid (fetid...)

Born again, afar from me
Burlington, she used to be
Burlington, come back to me

(Burlington, come back to me)
(She used to be, to be)
(Burlington, come back to me)

Nevermore, I look around
Burlington, you’ve let me down
I can't afford a home right now
I miss the sun, both up and down
Across the lake my gorgeous town
The sun will set, on autumn leaves
Where water glows, we all must leaf

Beneath the tree of my first kiss
Who would have thought I would have missed?

The brickened flats and mountain cats
My perfect city, I'm in mourning
Never could I bid adieu to you
All my memories back to you

Me, in summer dresses
Black haired girl, looks her bestest
Flashed my teeth, a pretty smile
But couldn't you have stayed awhile?
When I come back, you look the same
But the mall is gone and my school, the same
Of paths on bikes and paths on ice
Are all too long and bright at night

Me, in summer dresses
Black haired girl, looks her bestest
Flashed my teeth, a pretty smile
But couldn't you have stayed awhile?
When I come back, you look the same
But the mall is gone and my school, the same
Of paths on bikes and paths on ice
Are all too long and bright at night

(Bright at night)
(Bright at night)
(Bright at night)
(Bright at night)

Bright at night, I look around
Burlington, you’ve let me down
I'll never live in my hometown
Sun-up and sun-up and sun-up and sundown
Beside the lake I see my frown
And sun will set on autumn trees
Your water glows with memories

You lost the way, I used to see
When I am old
Old and dead
And I long to rest my weary, weary, weary head
Should you come back, where we can be
Just a girl and her city
Burlington, afar from me
Burlington; she used to be
Burlington, come back to me
