DESCRIPTION

Hey everyone!

Today we are releasing 2 soccer games: Sokker and Gnomeball. When we were at A MAZE. Berlin earlier this year we talked about how we all wanted to make a soccer game, and now a couple months later it has become reality as Ruben and Tom have both made one!

Get your keys through sokpop.co/patreon
or buy separately on itch.io or Steam!

Note: Gnomeball is a free game so you don't have to claim a key, you can download & play it immediately on Itch.io or Steam!

Ruben about Sokker:

Sokker is a local-multiplayer soccer game where you kick the ball by flicking the control stick!

The original idea for the game came when I saw people playing Capy Hoky at A MAZE Berlin this year, and having a lot of fun with it. I always had the idea for a Sokpop soccer-game that would be called Sokker, so I took the opportunity to finally make it.

I came up with the dual-stick control scheme fairly quickly, but initially dropped it as I wanted to also have keyboard controls. In the end though, I decided to go with the unique mechanic instead of accessibility, and I think it became a really fun party game!

I share the sentiment of Tom (see below) that it took more out of me than expected - making all the menus, sound effects, marketing material, save games, achievements et cetera is all kind of required when you want to release a game, no matter how small... But I'm glad the game exists and is playable for you all.

It also features great music and sound effects by frequent collaborator Bbtombo! He did an amazing job on the break-beat battle soundtrack, as well as the menu music and all the win/lose jingles. I hope you'll keep an ear out for it while playing the game!

Thank you for your support, hope you have fun, and let me know what you think!

- Ruben

Tom about Gnomeball:

Gnomeball is a fast-paced soccer game for 1-4 players, set in a charming miniature garden. Become a goal-scoring machine, pass like a maestro, and channel your inner Messi as you gracefully dribble past defenders!

It’s a small game I created after we decided that we all wanted to make a soccer game when we were at A MAZE in Berlin this year. I’m releasing it for free because I’m honestly not too happy with how it turned out. It also took a bit too much of my time and I need to fully focus on my next game, Bernband. I did learn a lot while working on Gnomeball though! This time I rigged and animated the characters instead of using procedural animation, and this was a really fun process to go through which I’ll definitely use in future games!

I hope you have fun checking out my goofy gnome ball game!

-Tom

As always thank you for your support, and we hope you like to play some soccer!
