Good afternoon,
It’s a bit later than usual today, as I was still experimenting with something I wanted to finish, but now it’s time to summarize the week.
This week I tried out a few things, some worked, some didn’t. To start: at the beginning of the week, I spent some time revisiting the quicksave plugin and found a way to reassign the F5 key, which normally reloads RPG Maker, so that it can now be used for quicksave, while F8 can be used for quickload. This had bothered me in the last update, so I’m now happy with the key assignment.
Next, I worked on something I’ve wanted to implement for a long time: limited funds for shopkeepers. The idea was that when you buy or sell at, for example, Lucius’s shop, his money would go up or down depending on transactions. I found a solution for it, but displaying the amount correctly didn’t work... eventually, players couldn’t sell anymore, and there was no way to tell why. I tried a few more approaches but didn’t get it working, so for now I’ve disabled the feature again until I have more time to work on it.
Once my experimenting time was over, I focused back on the actual update content. I continued work on the map needed for the next part of the quest and completed it. I also reworked the innkeeper interactions at the Golden Goose regarding room rentals, so now you can extend an existing stay, and he will come to you if a payment is overdue. You can then either extend again or be kicked out.
Then I continued with the main quest, adding daily routines for NPCs and additional sprites, for example, to show Rose sleeping in her bed. I also adjusted my original idea for the quest progression, as some of the planned steps felt a bit far-fetched. Still, I’m now close to reaching the story point I wanted for this upcoming partial update. But to work out the final steps I will need some more time next week.
Speaking of plans for next week: if it were possible to do the update without adding a new scene, it would likely be finished by the end of next week. But I know that for many of you, a new scene or at least an addition to an existing one is essential. So next week I’ll be working on additional animations for the scene with Tia, Lyvia, and Bianca, as well as a small scene for Rose.
The month is already coming to an end, and I’m trying to estimate how long it will take to get this next update done. Ideally, would be to get it ready by next week, but I fear that’s unrealistic. It will probably take until the week after, but I’ll do my best to make sure it’s not delayed any further.
I hope you’ll continue to be patient with me and, in the meantime, I wish you all a nice weekend!
