DESCRIPTION

Desert plants like cacti, agave, and yucca have specialized adaptations to survive harsh, dry conditions, storing water in their thick stems or leaves and often having spines instead of broad leaves to prevent water loss. Other desert plants, such as mesquite and creosote bush, survive by developing extensive root systems to reach deep water sources or are drought avoiders that quickly complete their life cycle after rainfall.
