Hello Beautiful Patrons!

This month's patreon exclusive podcast is a special one I think because I have decided to step up the production of the patreon podcast as much as I can and I think I have some pretty cool material to discuss. This year one of my big personal goals is to try to beef up the patreon content even more. Today's episode is about how success and an over-reliance on external feedback creates stagnation for artists (specifically Youtubers, Critics, and Indie Developers). In this ep I also give my style of critique a formal name as well as explain what I think the limits of traditional Commercial Critique are.

I included indie developers in the discussion because the recent articles about Mina the Hollower really got the gears spinning on how many of the celebrated indie models we are seeing right now (constantly supporting the same game for years on end with free content and massively long early access with constant post release updates) are not so distinct and different from the AAA games a service model. I also explain why commercial critique can't say much about games as service as a structure and can only comment if there are aggressive micro-transactions and such attached.

I'm really proud of how this ep turned out so I hope you all enjoy it and thank you for supporting the channel, I think this year is going to be a special one.

Sincerely,

Mark
