[Assets] NPR Shader Sets - Screenspace Magic - July 2025

But we’re back with month 8 of our Year of Assets! Last month, we released the Fantasy Academy Pack. For this month, we are releasing something very special! We’re calling it Screen Space Magic. All of these screen space effects are made for the NPR Open Movie Project, and we can’t wait to show you every single one of them to you! All of these effects can be applied to any material!

Screenspace Magic

Blur

For the first time, we have proper blur in the shaders. This is equivalent to box blur in image editing software, but applied right to your objects.

Speed Trails

This was made using the Image Sample node which comes with an incredibly useful Offset input which allows us to make this effect easily.

Kuwahara Filter

Just like the Kuwahara filter in the compositor which can make your render look painterly, this is Kuwahara filter in the shaders, so you can apply it to any material of your choice!

Painterly Effect

With the introduction of the Repeat Zone and the Image Sample node, we are able to sample the color anywhere on the screen and use a brush mask to apply those colors on the material.
