Come on, pick up already, May, how long is this going to take? I’m not going to stay in this body while you’re out there having fun with my girlfriend. Yeah, I know she’s your best friend, but that doesn’t give you the right to turn me into a girl with some stupid app.
— Hello... — my sister’s hoarse voice answered on the other end, the kind that usually shows up after she’s been out all night.
— Were you drinking or what?! — I snapped into the phone, not holding back my irritation and cursing my high voice, which now sounded like a stranger and disgusting to me. — Do you even realize what happened to me?
— Uh... what? Who even are you? — May sleepily rubbed her eyes.
— Who are you?! It’s your fucking brother, Kyle! Now switch everything back right now! I don’t want to be a girl! Especially here, in Paris!
— Um, fuck... — I heard the sounds of her getting out of bed, and there was so much confusion in that “um, fuck” that I instantly understood she didn’t remember anything.
— What do you mean “um, fuck”?!
— Okay, wait, — my sister’s voice became more alert, — You. You’re really Kyle, right? You’re in... in Paris right now?
— No, I’m in Africa saving lions, of course I’m in Paris! Where else would I be? I’m standing in the damn bathroom of a rented apartment and freaking out over the size of my tits! — I was on the edge of hysteria but trying not to start screaming. — Why the hell did you do this— actually, forget it. Just. Just change everything back and that’s it, we’ll deal with the rest later!
— Um... yeah, one sec, — there was silence on the other end for a few seconds, then a quiet rustling sound. — Fuck... Kyle, I... I can’t find the “exchanger.”
The Exchanger. That’s what we called the cell phone we found a couple of months ago near the house. It didn’t have a SIM card and for some reason it unlocked with our FaceID, which was already weird, but that wasn’t even the weirdest part. There was only one app installed on the phone, with no option to delete it or install anything else — “FaceSwap Real+.” The program let you swap faces like in some regular entertainment app, but with one catch. In real life, the same thing actually happened, and only May and I noticed the changes.
— What do you mean you can’t find it?! Where is it?! — I spun around sharply, feeling my heavy breasts swing under the T-shirt, stretching the huge bra cups that were now among my things. — Where’s the phone, May?!
— I... I don’t know! I swear! It was in my bag when we were out yesterday! I remember that... Chloe was complaining she was afraid you’d cheat on her while you were in Europe... — my sister’s voice dropped to a whisper, like she had just told herself everything. — Oh God...
— Chloe?! You did this because of Chloe?! May, I... — I couldn’t finish the sentence, I was literally shaking with rage. Chloe. My girlfriend. And my sister, her best friend. What a nightmare.
got to me, and... I didn’t think I would actually do it! Damn…
I fell silent, adjusting the stupid long hair that kept falling into my face. I lowered my gaze to my new body. To my tits, those two huge mounds now hanging on my body. To the way the T-shirt was stretched so tight that even the outline of the bra underneath was visible. This wasn’t a dream. This was really happening.
— So... Okay... Who did you swap me with? — I asked quietly, feeling the panic rising inside me.
— W-with... some... I don’t know! Some girl! I just typed in “random girl” in the search and tapped it! Why are you on my ass?! — May’s voice came again, no sleepiness left in it now, only panic and irritation. — I told you, I was drunk! Damn it! Where the hell is that fucking phone?!
— Quiet... Just quiet... — I whispered. — I think... I hear footsteps outside the door.
I held my breath, listening. The footsteps stopped, and then there was a knock on the door.
— Hey, Brianna, are you okay? — a female voice called out, familiar to me. It was one of the girls from our tourist group. Jessica. Brianna. That’s my name now.
— Yeah... yeah, I’m fine, — I forced out in my high, unwanted voice. — I’ll be out in a second.
— Okay, don’t take too long, we’re leaving for the Eiffel Tower in twenty minutes, — Jessica said, and I heard her footsteps fade away.
The Eiffel Tower. I had always dreamed of seeing it. But not like this. Not in this body.
— You’re going to the tower?... — May’s guilty voice came through the phone. — Kyle, I...
— Don’t say anything, — I cut her off, feeling my palms clench into fists on their own. — Just... just look for the phone.
— I am looking! I promise! I’ll call Chloe now, maybe she’s seen it.
— Chloe. — I turned away from the mirror, unable to look at my face on this body, which for some reason looked completely natural on it. — She. She’s probably now... so that means... we’re not even dating anymore...?
Suddenly, I was hit with horror as it sank in. Chloe. My girlfriend. She couldn’t be dating me now, because I was a girl. And the girl who now had my body... She... damn it, I don’t even know where she is. So who is Chloe dating then? Or maybe I don’t even want to know? Maybe May will still find the phone and...
— No... don’t... — May’s voice was full of despair. — I... I don’t know. Kyle, I’m sorry, I’m such an idiot, I swear.
— Okay, — I let out a hard breath, trying to get at least some control back. — Don’t call Chloe yet. I... at least check... did anything change in the house? Maybe in my room? Is my room even still there? Are we even related or...?
— That’s it! STOP! — she shouted on the other end of the line. — You are not going to panic, and I am not going to panic. Everything will be fine. I’ll check right now, and you... you just go to that tower. Walk around... relax. I’ll call you as soon as I find out anything. And Kyle... please, don’t lose it. Everything will be fine.
— Okay, — I said, hanging up and staring at my reflection in the mirror. It looked back at me with so much fear and confusion that for a second it felt like someone else entirely. Brianna. Now I’m — Brianna.
