It's been a long time goal of mine to move all my assets and characters over from Maya to Blender. Maya has felt very restrictive over the years (I can't even upgrade my GPU or I'd have to pay thousands in a new subscription to render stuff). I also want to be able to collab with other creators easier, and pretty much everyone else is using Blender. For a long while Blender was always falling short in terms of render quality and rigging compared to Maya so I didn't touch it. However it's really improved over the years, I'm especially impressed with how the eevee renderer lets me view displacements in the viewport without any extra setup. I've setup all of Angus's shaders with Blenders render engine Cycles, so now I'm onto the rigging stage. I hope to finish him this month, or at least get most of the rigging complete so I can begin some animation and render tests. I don't want this swap to feel like a downgrade to you guys when it comes to render quality, so I'll be doing lots of tweaking to make sure he looks great.
