New Year New.. Album? And other things

DESCRIPTION

Holy crap, guys. Happy 2026!! We are truly in the future because in this coming month or so it will have been a decade since my first seizure and I'll celebrate my epileptiversary. Also it's the last year of my 20s, although that one makes me feel queasy as hell.

That all said, the most exciting thing about this coming year is that my DEBUT ALBUM WILL BE COMING OUT!! Oh my God. When I decided on a whim to write an album, back in early summer 2024, I genuinely thought I would have it done by the end of the year. And then when I realised that wasn't tenable I thought I'd have it done before summer 2025. I don't know when exactly I stopped thinking it would be done 'soon' but here we are in 2026 and it's actually going to be soon.

Maybe let's talk a little bit about last year and a little bit about this year??

2025 I mostly set out to do little else other than work on the album. It was kind of weird because at times I'm sure it looked like I just disappeared or was doing nothing from afar. I completely underestimated how much work it took to write, perform, produce, mix and master your own full-length album from scratch. Please don't let me rush into making a second one, ya girl needs some recovery time.

The major downside, looking back, is that I completely threw my life out of balance in the process. I am NOT an introvert, but I was forcing myself to live like one to get this shit done. I didn't even go abroad, for the first time since I was a child. I picked up bits of irl work so I could guarantee that I would see people throughout the week. Obviously, I'm very proud of the work I've gotten done over the course of the year but I think going forward, it's just unsustainable to approach it the way I did this past year. The wild thing is that a lot of the album talks about my love of this crazy lifestyle, and I put that lifestyle on hold to finish the album. That was a huge learning moment for me when I saw the end in sight. Won't be making that mistake in a hurry again.

I really reduced the amount of DJing I was doing too -- both on Twitch and IRL. But I got to do some here and there, including this warehouse party in Hackney. It was my first time using CDJs and I was one of the first DJs of the night, and ended up having way too heavy a playlist for the time slot I had. No one complained but damn next time I have an early slot I will be making something far more mellow. I want to do some more sets on Twitch again this year because I miss the community aspect of it a lot.

The end of 2025 was pretty life-changing for me. I wrote about it in this Substack post, which you can read if you want, but it is a heavy and potentially triggering topic. It wasn't an easy final month of the year but it was ultimately a hugely liberating experience for me. And it timed so well with when I was wrapping up work on the album that it just felt so meaningful and awesome to kind of get through this project which, taught me so much about myself, and to be able to make such a massive change in my life. For that reason I've entered 2026 fucking stoked for what's to come and for the belief I have in myself.

Now that all of the mixing for the album is done, and only the final part of the mastering process needs to be finished up, you'll probably see me talk about the album more publicly. Last week I posted on Instagram previews of four of the unreleased album tracks, and some of you have already DMd me with opinions and excitement and it's made me so happy!! I guess I can say here that overall the album will comprise eleven songs and come to around 38 minutes in runtime, so there's a ton as yet unseen that I'm so excited to share. The songs Feeding Demons, Something To Believe In and Soft Shades are all on the album.

I've been working on some other things here and there so throughout the year I expect other stuff to get released too, although definitely no major project like this. Just fun stuff and music that I hope you will love. My goal is just to make everyone feel like they can be and do whatever they want and to have the freedom to live their lives how they want, even if sometimes they feel insecure and question themselves. Life is just a party and I'm determined to make 2026 the best example of it yet!

Hope you all had the BEST time celebrating the new year, and I can't wait to share it with you <3
