It's been over a week since I went to the Yaroufes con and I didn't really say much so I figured I'll make a post about it here (ᴗ_ ᴗ。)
It was my first time tabling at a con and it was so stressful having almost everything arrive last minute, I couldn't even make all my own merch so Mogy had to step in because I was suddenly working 2 jobs back to back with no time to even draw. The Jack book was supposed to be done but it's still not done because of lack of time...
The choco keychains were the most pain to make because I redrew that Jack so many times, I cried over how bad the first one came out (blue) and rush to redraw it completely (red), I ended up making both versions just in case and the few who actually purchased a keychain from me all picked blue lol...
V1: Scrapped cause my mom said his fit was boring
V2: Since the keychain was so small the lines looked too thin and there was too much small details that is hard to see when printed + it didn't go well with the cookies & cream choco wrapper imo but everyone else liked it anyways I guess lol
V3: Final one after noticing everything that bothered me about the first batch, I fixed it up and ordered plain milk choco instead and since the wrapper has red colors I changed the whole fit to his main goth look
At first I assumed this con was going to have mostly women attendees cause the photos shown by the official account showed all girls in them but it was all gay men lol (with a few girls), it didn't even matter though since I was pretty much ignored the whole time _(´ཀ`」 ∠) It was so boring but I was very lucky to have gotten few amount of guys actually buy my merch + compliment Jack and call him kawaii lol
My table was pretty sad compared to everyone else's properly having displays and whatnot, I felt like I was out of place and my merch was VERY out of place... The only reason I applied to yaroufes was because it was stated as a con for those who love men, so wanting to promote Jack like, yeah... He's a man... I DID NOT think about how it's actually catered towards yaoi content though ( ╥ ᴗ ╥) I feel stupid!!!!!!
I also realized that merch isn't exactly what people were looking for but it was doujins / art books that they wanted. I sold a shirt though, which shocked me but very thankful for cause it helped make back the table costs at least ε-(´∀`; )
The con was honestly pretty successful I'd say for my very first time! I know how to prepare for the next con thanks to this experience but I am worried I won't be able to finish the book again in time.. I'll try my best though!!
