Sorry that this took longer than I anticipated! I redrew Hans' face like 4 times :'D

Mythology lesson time - (though if you could guess what Hans is referencing before reading this description, I would love to know!)Iphis & Ianthe is a roman poem found in Ovid's Metamorphoses. It tells the story of Iphis, a girl who was raised as a boy by her mother, Telethusa, to avoid being put to death by her father, who preferred a male heir. Iphis is at some point betrothed to another girl called Ianthe - whom she falls in love with but fears her secret being revealed in their wedding night - the Goddess Isis then grants her wish by turning Iphis into a man, so him and Ianthe can live happily forever after.

Bafflingly, this myth made the rounds later in a Christian context, where it would be turned into an allegory for the relationship between man, God and church - I assume that's how Hans would have first come upon it, and either found the source or isolated the story from the moralization himself. Man does love his gay poems.

And for whom it may concern, I will take a tiny break now from the comics to draw a couple of lone pictures. I have a Izzy & Grod WIP that's been calling my name for days now 😌
