Hey all! I'm going to be starting a new thing, bi-weekly Devblogs as I work on the game! Which speaking of!
The principle game demo 1 is for the MOST PART done. I'm in the bug-fixing stage now and adding some SFX. Here's what you can expect to see in the first build coming up!
A JRPG battle system! ... kind of!
I've long wanted the original Cat/Suit to be some kind of heavily JRPG inspired game. The originals I made verged on that but they were limited, and I couldn't create my vision, rather I was reliant on other's creative modules or systems that augmented a very limited system for how it worked. But now? NOW I am (still working on) a JRPG battle system very akin to a game dear to my heart, Xenogears. You'll see it when its done and you play the demo, but you'll choose light, feint, medium, or heavy attacks in an attack combo for each move. Certain combinations of those inputs open up special finishers in the combat system. Its still being developed, but Unreal is so much more 'smooth' compared to earlier systems I've tried, and I think its coming along great!
The actual world you play in will be a full 3d space with an isometric angled view. The battles though will be like the provided screen with this post. Full rendered ANIMATED art like highly detailed gifs. I'm literally getting to bring my art to life!
The world is at first limited to just an introductory forest and a section of the first town. Thats just because it takes a lot of time to solo dev an original game with all original assets. BUT. I plan for a fairly expansive campaign with up to FOUR main cast characters. The first one you meet after you start will be, early on, 'Fennec'. My 'wise advisor' character.
The world is shaping up, and I'll have more images, art, assets and the full demo to share soon!
