Hello, again! After much tribulation, I have successfully rebuilt the character customization system to make it easier to use, more fully featured, and simpler for me to expand on. Due to the complexity of getting this refactored, this build is mostly a systems update. And while it does add some more options, there's still a lot more I want to add that I didn't have time to get to. So expect a Part 2 build sometime in June focused on adding more stuff you've requested like new outfits, headwear and some furry stuff. With that said, here's what's new in this build.
The customization menus have been reorganized into new category tabs, giving me room to add better selection menus with icons for each option.
Shirts, pants and shoes now have 20 different pattern options with their own color selectors and size adjustment.
Socks have new options including thigh-highs and fishnets with striped and stirrup variants.
12 new hair styles (mostly male) and 10 different facial hair options.
Adjustments for skin opacity, shininess and metallic so you can make slime and android characters.
Clothing options and glasses have sliders for opacity, shininess and metallic as well.
Rippable shirts and pants can be toggled separately.
Added half-elf and no ear options with more to come next month.
A new save/load system that supports unlimited named characters.
Saved characters will persist between new builds so you won't have to migrate them with every new release anymore. (However, because of the new save file structure, saves from old builds will no longer work. Sorry about that.)
And some minor bug fixes:
Body hair color should no longer change when hair color is changed.
Fixed some hair styles that were clipping badly into some of the newer body types.
Removed texture artifacts on the character's heels while wearing certain pants.
Side note: I'm also making all the text on these dev build posts accessible to free users and the Blobby Backer tier so they can make better judgement calls on what builds they feel are worth resubscribing for. However, the actual links to the builds will still be behind a paywall below.
Another note: Someone pointed out that a lot of the hair styles were clipping into the first person camera in this build. I uploaded a patched version that fixes it. So if you see that happen, redownload the build and it should no longer be an issue.
I think that's all for now. Like I said, there's still much more I want to add in the next update, but it will be a lot easier now that this refactor is complete. Until then, I hope you enjoy!
