Probably the hardest part about animating for youtube, (and one of the many rewarding things about Space King) is that relevance of parody content is almost always ephemeral, so if you're too late off the jump, you're fucked. Space King is so awesome to make as a creator, because people want to watch it AND its destiny isn't beholden to unpredictable trends or fadsUnfortunately, this Palworld toon was a victim of the opposite. We had a great time writing it and had even hoped to pay a small anime studio to produce it in full anime style, but by the time preproduction was done and we'd finished this animatic, the craze was already over. but, yknow, onwards and upwards. Its still fun to get to share it here as an exclusive πCouple details:

We were also stoked to get to work with the same Japanese VA's we'd hired for Console Wars: Sega Vs Nintendo a couple years ago
The ending would have been a belligerent sing along to the pokemon rap, (its a kareoke scene) with Tom doing his most culturally sensitive and venerating japanese guy accent (with news paper headlines flashing over the sequence)
